650ml brown bottle. Dark brown in colour, small creamy tan head. Leaves some nice splotchy lacing. Aroma has a lightly smokey character, woody, ashy, some chocolate. Flavour is of chocolate malts, dark coffee, not much smoke coming out. Suggestion of bitterness from roasted malt. Dry finish with a distant sweetish smokiness. Soft and creamy texture, mild to medium carbonation level. Better than the last smoked porter they did a few years ago. Smoke comes out more in the aroma than flavour, would have liked a smokier taste. Still, liked this quite a bit.

Thanks to presario and paco for this. Pours a thin black with a slight almond top. Aroma is slight smoked malts and a little chocolate. Taste is thin body, slight smoke but not prevalent. Good malt profile although nothing about the flavouring is up front. Some dark chocolates as well add to the mouth feel.

650mL bottle poured amber-brown color with big off-white head settling quickly to a nice lacing. Aromas of wood and smoke. Taste is lightly smoky with some malty sweetness. Medium bodied beer with nice carbonation. Very well done Alley Kat.

[3690-20110416] 650mL bottle. Sweet raisin roast malt aroma. Clear, dark brown red body with a medium-lasting foamy light tan head. Roasted raisin malt flavour hints at light strawberry fruit grains. Medium body. Pretty good, drinkable. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4

Deep black/brown pour with a tight white head. The aroma is lightly cocoaish. Soft and a little bit chewy. A touch of sweet cocoa and coffee along with some toasted malt. Malted milk, toast and sweetness. A kiss of light smoke on the back of the palate. Almost a leathery kind of dryness.

Bottle 650 ml
Aroma: Hickory , roasted barley some chocolate , raisin and little smoke…light scent of it.6-
Appearance: light haze on dark brown. Medium tanned creamy head.
Palate / Taste: Medium light bodied. Earthy , cellar like feel with strong hickory accents. Woody smoke like finish. Rather bland, forgettable in all.

2011-04-17. Very dark brown-black body, modest tan head. 3+ Aroma is surprisingly mild, dark malt with modest smoke overtones. Flavour is similarly malt, non-descript sweet dark malt, light fruit and very mild smoke character that grows slightly in the finish. Average palate. I went into fearing too much smoke, and left disappointed at the lack of any strong flavour. Just a bit too mild overall, I think a little more oomph to the base beer would have let the smoke serve as a lovely soft accent. Bottle via trade with Vertical Bacon Strips

Bottle… Pours clear and dark and sits black in my glass with tinges of dirty orange around the edges when held to bright light. Small, creamy, mushroom-colored head and decent retention. The bouquet is all about mocha – mostly chocolate – and faint smoke. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Leans on the sweet side of balance and provides mild components of chocolate and coffee layered upon suggestions of cola and smoke. Lightly sweet, roasted, grainy finish. Smokiness is mild at best. Pours opaque brown, thin head. Mid range body with chocolate and roastiness. Fairly smooth. Definitely not as much smokiness as you would expect.

Pours dark brown with red highlights. The aroma is quite fruity with hints of roast and a tiny hint of smoke. The flavor is grainy, fruity and minerally. Barley grist, Berries, flint, smoke, coffee, pepper, and apple on the palate. Thin and simple in my opinion. I wish is had more porter flavor, or more smoke.
