COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brown ales are the all purpose beers for dark ale lovers. Our Amber is no exception.

Description
Okay - we’re going to say it: beer isn’t always about the hops. Ales like our Amber are more about getting a sweet, roasty and malty taste. This is London-style brew is no exception. Dark with a caramel aroma, the Alley Kat Amber focuses on the subtle tastes in every sip. “A beautifully balanced brown ale with notes of chocolate, raisin, and allspice” – Stephen Beaumont’s The Great Canadian Beer Guide

Notes
The major thing to note for Amber ale is the emphasis on the malt. That doesn’t mean we don’t use any hops though. We brew Amber with Goldings to add a light floral hoppy note to the taste. 12.8°

Bottled. Roasted nuts and dark chocolate aroma. Deep copper in colour with an off white head and minimal lacing. Malty, nutty flavour with dark chocolate tones. Medium palate with a sweet finish.

Appearance: Pours a ruby colored body with a thick & fluffy off-white head. Smell: Nuts, malt, some caramel but not sweet. Creamy with slight hint of fruit but this is all on the low spectrum of aroma. It’s very but it’s brief. Taste: Starts out malty with a discreet caramel presence. Ends at first with a low bitterness. There’s a metallic feel to it, subtle, like licking the shell of a nut. As it warms, it has a weird spoiled finish to it. I almost downgraded the score to a 2.5 but it’s really only at the end and doesn’t terribly affect the taste though it is weird. Mouthfeel: Carbonation is a bit high but otherwise the smooth feel on the palate is pleasant though more of a low body than medium as the label states.

Good head. Nice carmell and vanilla notes. Good Brown Ale. Very easy to drink on any day especially from draught.

Nicely balanced with hops & malt. This is an easy drinking beer. A good example of a brown ale imo. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Looks like this is Craft Beer Market’s local brew, as brewed by other people that it. Has a soft nutty aroma, decent head and a dark brown ruby body. Flavour is a great hazelnut and malt mix. It’s a decent amber drink.

Not a bad ale. Nice malt notes and some nuttiness to it. Also has a nice drinkable caramel flavour. Not bad.

On tap at Alley Kat, pours a clear amber brown with a large off-white head. Nose brings out bready malts and light toasted notes. Flavour is pleasant, with toasted bready malt and light toasted dry caramel. Very well-balanced and drinkable. Very good.

Toasted almond and malty smell. Exceptionally off white small head. Malty with hints of nut, chocolate and coffee. Decent blend, adequate amber.

On tap at Beer Brothers. Pours clear brown, average head, good lacing. Smells and tastes more like a mild chocolate porter. Toffee, chocolate dominate. Nice beer but more than a brown ale in flavour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
