Had this at the Yeast Wrangler meeting last night and was very much impressed with the overall taste and finish. many of the scotch ale’s start off tasting good but the finish is usually a little disappointing but this one was very good. andrewturba (1190) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 1, 2012
Pours a clear brown with big tan head slowly falling to a nice white ring. Aromas of caramel, roast malt, smokey. Flavours of roast malt, smoke, peety, toffee, a touch of booze and a dry finish. Ratman197 (14852) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JUL 7, 2015
750 ml bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of caramel, peat smoke and light fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Holy crap what a great Scotch ale. The pour is a dark bright ruby red brown with a finger of dense beige head. Some light body carbonation and a bit of lacing. Just a gorgeous nose with bit earthy and woody aromas and big toffee, caramel and bready biscuit malts. Just beautiful nose. Sweet biscuity malts and toffee sweetness. Light bitterness on the finish with a grea tbalance throughout. Perfect malty sweetness and complexity. Overall, fantastic brew.

Bottle, shared with my dad and my dad-in-law. Dark amber with bunt-orange highlights, dense cream coloured mattress. Mmmmm! Dark caramel, smoky, leathery, toasty, creamy...wow! This is by far the best Alley Kat brew I’ve had in a long time! Thank you Alley Kat! pintbypint (3641) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 18, 2012
650ml brown bottle. Pours orangey brown with a long lasting but small white head. Good lacing. Nose has caramel, chocolate and some light smoke. Taste has caramel, chocolate and some late smoke, also some late bitterness. Medium body with average carbonation. No sign of the 8% alcohol, pretty nice. A good winter seasonal. maley1 (1273) - Calgary, CANADA - NOV 27, 2012
Golden amber pour with medium sized off white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, malt and hint of smoke. Taste of malts, toffee and a hint of peet. Full bodied, medium carbonation and alcohol well hidden. Very good scotch ale. Reimer96 (1743) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 1, 2012
Pours a clear dark amber with a big off white head that leaves some nice lace. Aroma is caramel, toffee and some smoke. Taste is caramel sweetness upfront with some smoke and peat. The alcohol is hidden very well when drinking the beer between 5 to 10 degrees. As it warms up it becomes more and more present. Very nice scotch ale. presario (4916) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 9, 2012
Bottle. Mahogany with minimal head. Light aroma. Good body with enough malt to cradle the alcohol and very nice smoked peat flavour that lingers.
