Rating #1011- March 1, 2014 - #blinddate at Beer Revolution. This brew almost made her talk of her growing laundry pile and inordinate number of cats bearable. Beautiful amber brown pour with a fairly weak tan head with mild lacing. Little thin in body for a stout, mild alcohol warmth, low medium carbonation. Aroma is a hint of espresso and cocoa bean in the roast malts, balanced by the sharp bitterness from the roast malts and noble hop - with the thick oaty sludge of a mouthfeel that indicates the depth of character for an old school oatmeal stout. Pours a dark black color with a thick brown frothy head that last for a while. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and mocha. Taste is roasted malts, cocoa, bitter grassy hops and a nice smooth creamy mouthfeel. Another home run by the kats here with a delicious brew! reebtogi (6488) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 2, 2014
Pint on tap at Beer Revolution in Edmonton pours black in color with a small light beige head that leaves only a few specks of lacing. Aroma is roasted grains and chocolate. Taste is a roasted grain and grassy hop bitterness with a chocolate malty sweetness. I found that the 6 1/2 Bears seems thinner in body than the 3 Bears. Will have to wait and see if bottle version is better. Was a bit of a disappointment.
