COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
A well balanced golden coloured ale, easy drinking and refreshing.
Named after a local coal mine, California is an extremely clean drinking golden coloured ale with a zesty and fruity aroma. Brewed with gently-kilned malts and an aromatic blend of American hops, this 3.8% beer has exceptional poise. Its distinct hop flavour leads to a refreshing and dry finish.
California has firmly established itself as All Gates Flagship Beer; winner of Bitter Category Leicester Beer Festival 2009 as ’Groundhop Day’.

Cask. Pours golden. Thin head broken lacing. Aroma citrus lemon and grapefruit. Fruit carries in the taste so this a sweet hop session bitter. Medium bodied with only a slight bitter aftertaste on the palate. Unspectacular but sound. Safe but unsought after - a phrase to condemn us all

Sun Inn, Kelvedon. Summer Beer Fest. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and light, fine carbonation. Hops are bitterish orange and grapefruit. Trace of hop spice and lemon. Light dry finish. Not bad! Pretty hoppy! Long bitter linger.

NWAF 24 Jan 13. Gylden. Nesten ikke skum. Litt tung fruktaroma. Smaken er aprikos. Litt tung. Blir tørr etter hvert.

Cask @ Britons Protection, Manchester. Pours a very pale and cloudy colour but settles into a perfect golden ale with a thick head. It’s citric hop based with a mild grapefruit and lemon character. Fairly smooth in the palate.

Nice pale ale with a citrussy like character, a good example opf the style and quite enjoyable

Cask by handpump, shared a half pint with Finn at NWAF. Bright naked surface. Clear golden body. Sparse aroma of citrus. Plain fruity hops, including modest hints of lemon and grapefruits, to the taste buds. Smooth bitter ending. OK (Manchester, 24.01.2013).

Cask conditioned at Minehead Beer Fest ’11. Pale gold with white head. Quite light in the body, there is a biscuity malt note than a good pleasant sweetish lemon hop note. It finishes fairly bitter. More complex than expected. Nice beer.
