Editors Note: After the original brew, the brewery was unable to obtain enough Citra hops to continue making a single hop beer so the recipe was changed to a "Dual Hop" beer called Deux Citra. Reverted to original name & recipe in late 2012 when more plentiful supplies of Citra were obtained.

American Pale Ale - a single hopped pale ale with crazy citrus aromas.
Originally brewed in June 2010 as the first brew in a series of occasional ’one hop’ beers, using more unusual hop varieties. We had first heard about Citra in 2009, had our first whiff of it in early 2010 and resolved immediately we just had to have some.
It’s just this incredible hop delivers a massive tropical fruit salad of aromas and could easily fool one into thinking you are drinking tropical fruit juice, ala Um Bongo. The aromas and flavours are simply citrus, peach, apricot, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, gooseberry, lychee, pineapple, tangerine, mango, papaya and all tropical fruit flavours and aromas.

Gravity cask at the Snooty Fox, London. Pours clear, yellow-gold with a faint, white foam head. Tangy citrus aroma, some pee. Light to medium sweet flavor, some lemon and tangerine, pale and doughy biscuits, faint dry grass. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Light lemony citrus finish, mellow tang, fresh pee and other citrus. Very sessionable stuff.

Cask stillage at the Birmingham CAMRA festival 2014. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a bubbly white head. The aroma is grassy hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a huge Citra grass palate and a long bitter finish. Light bodied with soft carbonation. A massive hop fest. This is as good as the excellent Oakham Citra.

NWAF 24 Jan 13. Lys gylden. Litt tung fruktaroma. Smaken er syrlig frukt. Ensformig.

On cask at The Cambridge Blue, 16/02/13, during their winter beer fest. Labelled as "Citra Star", 4.1%, so might be a variant. Clear pale gold. Nice, lots of aroma hop. Spicy, sweet grapefruit, sticky herb hop. Very hoppy, with little bitterness. Light malt. Good, hoppy session beer, lovely hops, but a bit watery.

jackl (8071) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 24, 2013
Cask @ The Dove. Light gold with a small white head. The nose is straw, pale malts, some lemon and cake dough. The taste is more lemon cake, a bit of sweet dough, sugar cookie. Some white grape. Light, dry finish. Very light body, soft carbonation. Overall, decent stuff.

Rune (12813) - Tromsø, NORWAY - FEB 8, 2013
Gravicask, half pint, shared with Finn at NWAF. Headless, clear golden body. Fresh fruity nose. Tropical fruity taste, rather juice-like. Clean bitter end. Pretty straightforward (Manchester, 24.01.2013).

cgarvieuk (24536) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 26, 2013
cask at NWAF ... very pale golden... thin white head ... soft sweet mandarine lemon ... hint of catpiss nose ... soft sweet juicy lemon ... soft orange ... light dustyness
