A - Dark black with just a hint of brown and a finger of frothy khaki-chocolate colored head. Fades fairly slowly.
S - Roasted dark chocolate and dark caramel malts, oak, vanilla, Bourbon, dark fruits, coffee, black licorice, candi sugars, vanilla, Belgian yeast, and a hint of booze.
T - Roasted dark chocolate and dark caramel malts, oak, vanilla, Bourbon, dark fruits, roasted coffee, candi sugar, Belgian yeast, black licorice, some earthy hops, and a hint of booze.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and creamy with a sweet, roasted, and warming finish.
D - Fantastic balance and complexity. Spot on.
Black Bill and his crew strikes again. Complete black stuff with a beige layer on top. Good intensity in the aroma. Full body and a bit to rich carbonation level. A bit fizzy mouth feeling. Bottle, many thanks to Madmitch76. Jet black body, filmy beige layer. Dark malty smell with a touch of both earth and barrels. Oak and chocolate malty flavours, hints of smoke and ash. Bourbon and resinous hops towards the ending. Well bodied. Sampled at hops and pie, pours black with small reddish beige head. Menu says woodford reserve barrels. Notes of dark chocolate, fig, peppers, oak, cocoa nibs, and heavy licorice. Firstly, I’d say this is definitely more of an American stout than any of the other styles.
It’s super clean. Lovely barrel-aging. Cedar on aroma. Lots of German licorice. Chocolate. Velvet is smooth. Oak. Wood resin. Chocolate gateax and oak chips. Really silly drinkable for the abv. The mellowness is astounding. This is an extremely well-made beer with absolutely no defects. Excellent job!

Dark clean burnt wood black with one finger of light mocha tan head. Nose is nice. Shows the age well, notes of wood, burnt sugar, prune, black strap molasses, and dark cocoa. Awesome to say least. Bottle share looked like 22 oz bottle neat colorful label. Poured translucent brown with red tint. Small head light carbonation perfect palate. Pours a dark chestnut brown color that appears pith black and opaque in the glass with a 1.5 finger mocha head that quickly settles into a thin ring. Decent retention with sporadic streaks of lacing left behind.
Inviting aroma with a nice barrel presence that’s nicely integrated into the other notes. Strong dark fruit esters and roasted malt character countering the wood and bourbon. Some charred oak and vanilla with vinous dark fruit and robust dark malts. Belgian dark ale notes stand out as it warms. Plum, fig and raisin along with roasted coffee, oatmeal and bitter dark cacao.
Lighter end of medium body with a delicate barrel presence that’s nicely integrated into he imperial stout and dark Belgian ale flavors of the base. Some dry, toasted oak and subtle spicy bourbon with a touh of vanilla and toasted coconut. Not overwhelmingly hot or boozy with subtle spirit flavor. The dark ale portion of the blend is prominent with dark fruit esters giving off hints grape, cherry, plum and raisin. Stout notes are a bit overpowered with subtle roast, coffee bean, and oatmeal. Some lighter malt sweetness with caramel, toffee and sweeter chocolate notes. Really well balanced and the high ABV is well masked. Very easy to drink but it could use a bit more bourbon and stout character.
