A rich and roasty dark sour ale brewed with organic heirloom pumpkins and spices and aged in used red wine barrels for a year. Serve this complex ale as a counterpoint to savory Thanksgiving staples and alongside Mom’s classic pumpkin pie.

I believe this was the 2015 version, enjoyed at West Seattle Beer Junction Pumpkin Junction 2016. Deep, dark brown a reddish tinge and a ring of chocolate head. A whisper of pumpkin is ensconced in rich layers of dark cherry and rolling sour notes--with a hint of balsamic. The body delivers a similar experience--deep, rich, dark cherry and sour notes with a trace of vinegar, though pumpkin flavor is not detectable. Another year of aging would surely unfurl even more depth. Outstanding

Dark, espresso hue with fragrant notes as your nose enters the glass. The sour taste his the tongue like a fine balsamic vinegar, but I’m not getting much spice.

Bottle:   Dark in color, deep cola hues, small sudsy beige head, little lacing.   Sour or tart nose.   Indistinquishable spices, or perhaps I should say a lack of any real spices.   Tart up front, a little vinous, with a faint touch of band-aid and icicle flavorings.   I had my hopes up, but this one wasn’t as fancy as I would have thought. &nbdp Doesn’t hold a candle to Cascades Sour Pumpkin.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Sour finish, a little dry, faint vinous notes.   Just seems like a vinous example of a Sour Ale.   Nothing about this says Pumpkin to me... Oh well.

Bottle at LKS Heights, 14/04/16. Rich mahogany brown with a decent beige head. Nose is pissy vinegar notes, tarte pumpkin exhaust, nutty, wood must, dark fruit shreds. Taste comprises mellow dark fruits, pumpkin pie, light varnish, nutty, dank wood, fruit balsams. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a tangy fruit rinse and light puckering effect. Decent.

Bottle sample at Växjö Ölfestival. Reddish brown with off white head. Aroma is sweet and slight sour, lactic, acetic, dried fruit, rhubarb, cherries and pumpkin. Taste is fairly sour, acetic, lactic, tart red berries, rhubarb, lemon, slight spicy and some pumpkin. Nice to see a drinkable pumpkin beer for once

Bottlshare at Mr Smith’s pad. Thanks to Matteo. Hazy amber beer, short pale tan head. Palate is light, fairly dry and has reasonable fine carbonation. Fairly sour and tart but thankfully no acid. Lemon and tart generic fruits. Litte cinnamon. Light and fairly sour finish. Nit bad at all.

Bottle shared at Leightons place 14/04/2016. Many thanks to Matteo for this one. Hazed reddy chestnut brown coloured pour with a fading thin dark beige head. Aroma is tart plum, earthy dirt, some root veg, mushroom. Flavour is composed of tart raspeberry plum, cranberry,, veg, musty. Assertive clean sourness, bitter lemon. Palate is semi sweet, tart sourness, moderate carbonation. Good.

38cl bottle shared at the mid-April tasting @Leighton’s. Sourced from The Bottle Shop, Bermondsey. It pours a clean dark Ruby colour with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet and acidic with some funk apricots rhubarb cherries. Taste is also sweet acidic with more notes of tart cherries, lemon juice, funk and light spices. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, tasty indeed
