This is a beer inspired by a donut. An amazing, hand-made, yeast fermented donut laden with real maple syrup, crispy bacon and a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. With a box of breakfast inspiration in hand, we combined cherrywood smoked malt, real maple syrup and Woodford Reserve Bourbon Barrels to make something truly decadent: Dynamo Donut Barrel Noir. The result is a sweet, oaky, rich beer that pairs perfectly with breakfast or dessert. *No donuts were harmed in the making of this delicious beer.

6 oz pour at Original Gravity. Smells like Bourbon with a slight smokiness. Sweet and sticky taste initially which fades to a Bourbon taste, finishing with a slight burnt bacon taste. (K)

[8660-20160827] Tap. Sweet maple sugar and caramel toffee cream aroma. Black red-hued body with a medium-lasting foamy mocha head. Sweet coffee toffee bread flavour has a long roasted burnt wood finish. Full body. Amazing aroma but the body is a little hollow and reminds me of a vodka and Coke. (10/4/7/3/14) 3.8

Overheard: "Smells like sprinkles."

[email protected] Beer Basement: pours black, opaque with tiny light brown head. Aroma: roasted grain, malts, oak, vanillin, marshmallows, nuts, sherry-like (bourbon)... Flavor similar: dark malts with notes of chocolate, hint of coffee, cacao, maple syrup (incredible how fine Armerican Brewers incomporate it)...finish is dry, warming alhohol notes...body is moderate full, texture soft, carbonation medium.

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served showing a black/brown hue, with a finger’s width of brownish tan froth that reduced to a persistent ring, light film, and spots & patches of lacing. The nose was roasted, sweet, and quite dessert-like, with expressive notes as gourmet chocolate, caramel, maple, and barrel induced vanilla. Full bodied, with syrupy texture, and soft carbonation, the taste was similar, adding some roasted & earthy bitterness, bourbony booze, and sweetness that remained very dessert-like, but not necessarily cloying, even after warming. Ideally positioned as the final beer of the evening.

On tap at boise CoOp. Pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is big roast malts rich chocolate malt oak berries lots of sweetness. Taste is more of the heavy roast malts chocolate sweetness wine barrel oak notes and a nice fruit touch. This is very nice.

Inky black hue that’s got a thin light khaki head. Sumptuous nose that’s got some dark chocolate, lightly tart red wine barrel oak-iness, and a boozy phenols depth. Lovely and complex flavor that features so many flavors. Chocolate, glazed doughnut, raspberry doughnut filling, oak, red wine, a little red berry alcoholic phenol, and a gently tart oak-y chocolaty finish with just a kiss of maple brown sugar. Incredible.

Glass at Tap 25, pours sticky black with coffee head. So much maple syrup and chocolate. Perfume and dark fruit booze in the finish as it warms. A bit too sweet and hot for me.

brokensail (16696) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 5, 2016
On tap @ Caps & Taps. Black beer with a thin tan head. Lots of chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon. There’s a touch of smoke and definitely some maple and caramel sweetness. A rather intense sweetness. It’s nice, actually, to taste, but it’s a bit much to drink more than an ounce or two of...becomes sort of cloying. A decent touch of char, roast, and barrel.

The beer I enjoyed the most this evening. Looks syellar. Black with a nice head. The first sip is stromg, letting you know it means business but the base of it is softer and sweet. A relatively light finish.

jercraigs (11312) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 4, 2016
2016-08-27. Black body, smooth creamy brown head. Aroma is intense, strong maple character, notes of caramel and dark sugars. Flavour is similar, sweet caramel and maple, light roast and dark malt. Smooth full bodied palate, moderate carbonation. 3+ Big and bold, but tasty in a small pour. 8/4/7-8/4/15-16 On tap at Thin Man, Buffalo, NY.
