3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a finger of head on a clear copper colored body.
The aroma is loaded with pine and grapefruit... it’s like putting the hop cone right up to your nose.
The taste is moderate pine bitterness, then tapers off to a mildly sweet malt finish.
The texture is crisp with some softness around the edges.
Enjoyable to drink.
Present malt backbone but balance towards quite harsh medium bitterness, citrusy, tangy, the medium oak makes everything sluttier, heavy. larsga (7539) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 6, 2015
Big offwhite head. Hazy deep amber body because of massive amounts of
floaties. Spicy freshly cut wood aroma with honey notes. Dry resiny
spicy taste with papery notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, flat mouthfeel.
Dry wooden honey aftertaste with resiny fruity notes. Tastes like
this was a good beer, but it’s now too old. Should rerate. (0.355l

12 oz. bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar, on sale for 75 cents. Pours rich dark gold with a nice, thick, creamy, white head that leaves decent lacing, with visible little bubbles. Aroma of mandarin orange, light caramel, and grapefruit. Has a nice snappy feel on the tongue, quite refreshing. I normally don’t like American high alpha hops but this works for me. A little too heavy on the hops, not what I would associate with a Belgian ale. Almost into American IPA range. Has a biscuit like flavor. The hops leave an earthy, bitter aftertaste, they seem to overwhelm the mandarin orange. It’s nice overall but I prefer low alpha hops like a traditional Belgian. Hazy amber with a medium white head. Aroma of light hops, caramel, biscuits and some grapefruit. Similar taste. The finish was medium bitter. I wonder how fresh the bottle was?
