COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison aged in wine barrels with plums, Cabernet, concord, and muscat grapes. Our first California Wild Ale is brewed with a blend of Cabernet and Muscat grapes from Alfieri Farms, Concord grapes from Hamada Farms, and plums from Twin Girls Farm – all located in the fertile San Joaquin valley. Aged for over a year in used wine barrels, this sour ale blends rich flavors of the 2011 Autumn harvest with farmhouse funk. Enjoy with aromatic Taleggio cheese and rich duck confit.

At the brewpub. Pours murky orange. Lots of farmhouse, stables and funk, then grapes and wine barrels. The stink wins though. Medium body, lightly acidic and pleasantly tart, with a soft but lively carbonation leading into a dry but grape-filled palate. Great balance of the different components, highly enjoyable with a full taste without ever being tiring. A blast.

Pours hazy apricot with a low frothy white head. Aromas of citrus, green apples, green grapes, garden branch, dew grass. Taste is fruity and quite sour with slight farmhouse notes. Mouthfeel is light bodied and very dry and crisp with medium carbonation.

Been holding on to this one for a while! Pours a beautiful auburn color with a chunky, 2 finger, off white head. Funky oak, raspberry, strawberry on the nose. Raspberry up front quickly followed by a wave of tartness that is very dry and crisp on the end. Medium bodied and effervescent. Worth the wait! I definitely think it may have benefited from a little less time in the bottle (fruit notes were pretty dulled) but absolutely fantastic nonetheless.

Bottle pour split with Andrew, big thanks for sharing, here’s to a new season, light peach color pour, aroma is full of fresh fruit and some sour funk, decent amount of carb, still has held up so well. Sour wine grape tast semisweet flavor. Such a awesome beer to be drinking.

375 mL bottle poured. Thanks to Tim for the bottle. Celebrating the beginning of baseball with this beer, which in my opinion, began a string of a sour revolution for these guys. Pours a cloudy darker orange color with a thin fizz head. Aroma is big sour red grapes, as well as a sour plum like. Flavor is intense sour grape and berry fruit. Very funky. High acidic. Surprised it has this feel a few years later. I love how dominant the grape character is. Amazing, and expected no less.

375ml bottle pours a clear orange with some cloudy, white head. Nose is cool, lots of fruit, peaches, strawberries, grapes, passion fruit, lightly floral, some fruit roll up. Flavor is tart with a little lemony acid, peach, nectarine, some golden raisin, light candy, currant, some Eastern European white wine. Lightly tart finish but also dry on the finish. Excellent.

Pours a hazy golden with some floating particles and a thin white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of funk, strawberries and smelly feet. Taste is fruity (strawberries again) and moderately tart. Body is light to medium and carbonation moderate and mouthfeel a little tannic. Overall a solid fruited sour, one of Almanac’s best.
