Almanac Farmer’s Reserve 2

RATINGS: 81   WEIGHTED AVG: 3.87/5   SEASONAL: Special   EST. CALORIES: 210   ABV: 7%
This barrel-aged ale is a celebration of the California autumn harvest. Brewed with heirloom pumpkins from La Tercera Farms in Bodega Bay, crisp Fuyu persimmons from Hamada Farms in the San Joaquin Valley and fresh ginger from the Santa Clara Valley, then aged for over a year in white wine barrels to create a deliciously complex wild ale. Enjoy with delicate white fish and roasted squash.

Cloudy golden pour, white head. Good sourness up front, some exotic fruit notes, plums, spice, maybe a sneaky hint of pumpkin. Damn fine brew from a great brewery!

Aromas great. Straight up sour with a little funk The beer is good but not great. It is too much like fizzy lemon soda. Ratings are a bit high. Pumpkin and persimon are there bit very slight. Too clear. I liked it but I would never buy it again or probably any other of their sours.

Pours a light gold with no head. Aroma of funk, oak and citrus. Taste is sour, funky with a great citrusy tartness. Really nice!

S: Strong lacto, spices, banyard funk and hay, it has rather a strong sour smell. P: Golden with very minimal head, gets a little brown from my second pour to the bottle. T: Warhead lemons, wine, oak, some gingerand ends of a persimmons sweet note. M: high carbonation and sour. O: Very nice, a sipping sour.

Bottle in Vail with my wife, courtesy of Felipe. Big thanks for this one man, you are too generous!! Hazy yellow pour with a small white head and good lacing. Big urine, funky, lemon peel, citrusy, light vanilla, oaky, fruit skin, and doughy aroma. Taste is tart lemon peel, musty, sweaty socks, lacto, vanilla, woody, white wine, and green apples with a medium sour finish. Light body with high carbonation. Really nice white-wine characteristics, moderately tart, yet highly refreshing. Well-done!

Tap at Library Alehouse. Fiancé says it tastes like a sour version of NG Apple Ale. Pours clear golden. Wispy white foam. Nose is bright chardonnay and Russian River style sour blonde with mild Acetic and buttery oak. Sharp nectarine like temptation within more assertive fruitiness. Great lactic palate. Russian River level here nose joke. Superlative key lime lactic palate. Heavy seedy berry, bright nectarine. No off flavors. Wow.

Bottle shared at berliner fest, poured a folden color with aromas of sour pumpkins, ginger, light musk, some vineous notes and a touch of persimons. Flavors are the same light sourness throughout, extremly drinkable. Could enjoy this beer all day if I wanted to.

thanks Hector .. . drank at the Petrol Station .. . lots of mango, some mild yeast and light pineapple skin .. . pretty good, easy to drink .. . . there’s something about flying a kite at night that’s so unwholesome.
