COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This barrel-aged ale is a celebration of the California autumn harvest. Brewed with heirloom pumpkins from La Tercera Farms in Bodega Bay, crisp Fuyu persimmons from Hamada Farms in the San Joaquin Valley and fresh ginger from the Santa Clara Valley, then aged for over a year in white wine barrels to create a deliciously complex wild ale. Enjoy with delicate white fish and roasted squash.

375mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours a clear pale golden with a medium white head. Nose is very complex, with notes of oak barrels, light ginger and some persimmons -- very wild and complex. Flavour is an usual blend of notes -- including the persimmon, pumpkin and ginger, followed by oaky white wine notes. Very complex, cohesive and drinkable. Medium-high carbonation is appropriate here. Excellent.

Cloudy straw pour with a white head. Really heavy on the lemon tartness. A bit of peach, persimmon, mild pumpkin, and light vegetal funk. Some grass, oak, and light must. The flavor has a nice sourness to it. Persimmon, lemon, and a hint of green apple. Kind of a mineral quality to it, grass, oak, and a slight mustiness.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shop. Pours brilliant gold with a white head. Aroma is sour fruit (must be persimmons) with some spice. Med body. Flavor is sour, then spicy, then a bit sweet. Finishes off with some astringent oak. Very nice sour. A few minutes have passed. Vinosity is now very noticeable.

THought it might be better than other pumpkin ales but it is a duckin train wreck, waaay too much spice and then sourness, which is totally unnecessary.

"I was curious about the veggies used in this one, but it was actually the use of white wine barrels that made this one unique. Lightly fruity and spicy, not as funky as the Reserve 1, but more on the funky saison side of wild. Enjoyable and refreshing."
