COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We love blackberries. Tart, sweet and complex but guarded by thorny branches, these alluring fruit have been a favorite of ours since we added them to our very first beer. This sour blonde ale is infused with loads of coastal Blackberries from Swanton Berry Farm in California’s Santa Cruz Mountains and aged in wine barrels for many months. Pair with duck dishes and summer salads.

Aroma of horse blanket, tart blackberries.... Color is a pleasant pinkish red, almost pink grapefruit or guava juice color... Flavor is intensely tart upfront, sour lemon and berries... Blackberry comes through more on the finish with definite red wine barrel notes on the palate... Delicious as always from almanac ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

opaque between peach pink and carrot red color, little lacing round the edges. effervescent scent, yeast, sweet honeysuckle, cardboard, taste is hard too put my finger on, light, getting some berry, reminding me of their rasperry offering last summer. I don’t know, much like a fruity wine.

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy pink/orange. No head. Aroma is sour berry. Med body or nearly. Flavor is sharply sour. Dark berry follows. Very tasty.

On tap at Beercraft. Pours the color of guava with minimal head. Aroma is muted while cold but opens up to reveal goat cheese/yogurt, unripe strawberry, and fragrant blackberry. Flavor is mellow, slightly unripe berries and yogurt, medium acidity. Touch of strawberry lemonade.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange with a white head ring. Smell is funky bugs and fruit with a bit of barrel. Taste is sour with blackberry, as you might imagine. A bit thin and not all that lively. Not all that complex but it I imagine it will improve with age -- a little time out in the glass did it good.

I like the upfront fruity funk. If you like this series, you’ll like this beer.
