Almanac Farmer’s Reserve Blackberry reminds me a lot of the berry-infused Sours I’ve enjoyed from a brewery much closer to my side of the map: Crooked Stave. It’s a flattering comparison. Almanac seems to share a similar mindset in their desire to include lots of fresh fruit but to always remind you that it’s still a Sour with wild yeast. This brew pours dark pink. Its nose is fruity - you certainly pick up on the berry. Flavors of tart blackberry and vinegar-like acidity. Overall, there’s a wonderful balance of sweet/tart. You’ll be disappointed if you’re expecting blackberry extract, but this is about perfect if you’re looking for a well-rounded Sour. Beachmaster (580) - Oklahoma, USA - APR 16, 2017
On draught. Pours a hazy dark pink, with a pink head that lasts and leaves good lacing. Nose is citrus and berries. Taste is tart citrus with a slight berry taste on the finish. Pleasantly tart and well balanced. drjay44 (3892) - Salida, Colorado, USA - APR 7, 2017
375 ml. bottle. 7.1% ABV per the label. Brewed and bottled Winter 2016-17. Pours a medium, well retained, pinkish head, with slight lacing, over a hazy, purple, red (SRM 17) body......nose is blackberry, mild acid, minimal malts, no hops......taste is moderately tart acid, blackberry with almost hints of sweetness, light vinous tones, mild oak, finishing sour with minimal hop contribution......mouth feel, medium light body, no alcohol, moderate carbonation. The base blonde is quite hidden by the blackberry and associated acid. It is a pleasantly sour beer, proving once again the value of blackberries in the overall style. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7

A- Vinegar, tart.
A- Dark red color, hazy liquid, white head.
T- Tart, sour, subtle berry.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, tart finish.
O- Lots of vinegar and acidic notes. Very little blackberry to the point where it’s hardly detectable. Okay but really wish there was a lot more fruit. Tognetta (953) - São Paulo, BRAZIL - MAR 14, 2017
Avermelhada de leve turbidez, espuma rosada de pouca formação e pouca persistência. Aroma tende a amora e cereja escura. Paladar de média acidez e leve amargor e dulçor. Corpo leve e média/alta carbonataçao. Final trás um leve amargor que as vezes parece vindo da casca ds fruta e as vezes um pouco de lúpulo. Restrained tart berry aroma in a crimson pour. Lovely balance between the sour base and the berry addition makes this the best of the three I had in a session (nectarine and raspberry being the others).
