Now that Almanac's beers have crossed the border into Ohio it will be tough to pass them on the shelves. Only the high price tag and cellar backlog might keep things in check. On the other hand if they are all as top notch as this one then I wish I'd had a few more back in California near the source.
Aroma / Appearance - A golden cascade of bubbly liquid grows under the pillowy white head. Floral aspects, particularly dandelions and dried daisies, mingle with an underlying sour tang. The results almost smell like a gueuze IPA.
Flavor / Palate - Lemon custard, dry sour yeast, and bubbly textures dance across the tongue and throat. The vibrant finish leaves a mildly acidic remnant behind but also a fresh cheesy touch. Either I got lucky by buying one of Alamanc's best sours first or they are set to shake up the Ohio market.

Refrigerated 375 ml brown bottle poured into a Teku. Slightly hazy golden withmedium white head. Aroma is brett & some herbal hops, light body, lower carbonation, and pretty good lacing. Taste is tart, funky, citrus, and some oak. JBPortland (1582) - Virginia, USA - AUG 3, 2017
375ml bottl pours hazy pale orange with finger of foam. Nose and taste have a great balance of dusty funk and bright tangy citrus fruit, moderate tartness, white wine grape, tropical grassy notes and soft rustic doughy grain in the finish. Favorite almanac sour hops brew yet. oobawa (1969) - Tennessee, USA - JUL 29, 2017
Lovely hopped-up sour, layers upon layers of sour ale goodness, grassy and sweet with toasty undertones, all atop vast stretches of lacto brightness backed up by alternating swaths of funk and oak. Bright haystack notes round out the tart peach-citrus front, while bready yeast leads to a mustard-like middle, not quite savory but close. The finish brings a subtle sweetness, woodsy oak notes leading to papaya and vanilla on the fade, while a lemondrop undercurrent reminds you Citras are in the recipe. Funk and lacto on the nose, while the pour’s a nice hazed yellow-gold with moderate lacing. Perfect texture for the style. Delicious.
