Tart Farmhouse Ale brewed with tangerine and oranges

Mandarina’s tart and citrusy profile makes it the perfect beer for warm, sunny days. The combination of crisp tartness, tangerines and the citrus aromas of Mandarina Bavaria and Citra hops puts this farmhouse ale’s fruity aroma over the top. Pair this summer sipper with a day at the beach, fresh seafood and citrus-infused desserts.

Part of the fresh beer series, brewed and canned in San Francisco.

Clear golden and peach coloured body with a large, super soapy white head with large bubbles that stays around for quite a while. Aroma of bright funk, some citrus, a lot of hay and grass, flowers and a touch of sugar near the end - mainly caster sugar, but some fruitiness as well. Super light-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal notes throughout with a very mellow yeastie flavour along with some funk, dry grass and hay and ending with the faintest bit of citrus. Aftertaste shows the funk, yeast, coriander seed, wheat and light citrus front and centre without much sweetness or depth - this is all pungent and dry at first, then simple and goes down very easily. Overall, a nice and easy-drinking beer that shows some good characteristics, perhaps very good for the low ABV, but missing something, predominantly body and complexity, but also some balance and a bit of sweetness as well. Nice to try, but not worth going out of the way for, even if in the middle of summer in the pressing heat. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 21-January-2017 for US$2,75 sampled at home in Washington on 17-May-2017.
