Clear blueberry rosey burgundy hue with a thin light pinkish head. Bright citric tropical hop nose with wooden barrel sour lactic tones and gentle berry fruitiness. Brisk semidry sour lactic flavor with big citric and tropical hop tones with a touch of lemon, blueberry and blackberry tartness, and a little wooden barrel nuance. Lingering lactic finish. bytemesis (8970) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - AUG 7, 2017
Bottle. Pours hazy plum, small off-white head, dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is bretty funk, berries, basement, hint of citrus. Flavor is light tart, medium plus funk, berries and brett. Medium body, citric finish. The dry hop has all faded, but what is left is nice. MetalNHopHead (2125) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - JUL 27, 2017
Both Almanac and Stillwater are fond of throwing hops into Sour Ales. It’s always a weird idea, but it can be lovely when it works. They’ve made it work yet again with this brew. The aromatics coming off of this reddish brew are almost all hoppy: mouth-watering pungent citrus and just a hint of fresh berry juice. Flavor is rather unique, even for the strange, wide world of Sours. Bread-like malt, lemon-lime hops, and sweet/tart berries. It’s a bit like berry lemonade. The suggestion to pair this with 2 a.m. Al Pastor tacos is damn tempting.
