From the Bottle at Chris O’s 06/08/2009 Malt aroma. Amber red coloured strong in alcohol a little rich on the palate and pale with a little bitterness in a crisp malt finish.

Bottle, sampled at Cole’s Italian Beer Tasting: Dark amber color, topped off by a thin white head. Smoked malt aroma with subtle toffee notes in the background. Very nice smokey and sweet malt flavors with some light whiskey and oak notes. A pretty solid beer, that I wouldn’t mind having again.

Bottle at Cole’s - Buffalo
Appearance: light hazed brown shaded ale , light fizzy top.
Nose: smoky front , peat ,ash , meaty dry feel.
Flavor/Palate : mid bodied , bold , straight smoky character. Oily , roasty meats with leafy tobacco smoke. Alcohol almost non visible (8.7%?). Good strongly smoked ale.

Cole’s Italian tasting. A smokey aroma, like a smoked. Dark smokey grey colour. A lot of lace though a thin head. Hard to drink, yes the scotch whiskey is prominent. Some sugar and honey which makes it sweetness into a sipper. A unique combination, and detracts from drinkability.

VertBaconStrips (2387) - Blerkablerka, VENEZUELA - OCT 25, 2009
Purchased at Khory’s in Vegas.. or Henderson. Nice large, bubbly tan head on top of a soft chestnut coloured beer with decent retention. The aroma is interesting: chestnuts, plum, candy, similar to an English barley wine - comes across very fresh. The taste is really good, yum yum I will say. Mild dark fruit and warming, toffee, hint of smoke, weakest of chocolate and something similar to anise. Good carbonation, fresh, soft biscuity dryness on the finish. Big marks for the good use of chestnuts.

Bottle that I think Craig got from GBBF 2009 and shared with me in a field at Cropredy Festival, Oxon 15-08-09 Pours orangey/reddy with an off-white head. aroma is hoppy but with some caramel and am I getting nuts or is that my just believing so given the name, there is also horse piss on the nose. Sweet, touch spicy, soft in mouthcheers, some caramel and hops its fine but not that great. Once again many thanks for sharing this Craig. A4 A3 F P3 Ov11 2.7

Bottled 75cl (at ChrisO, BB 04/2013). Dark ruby color, steady beige head. Aroma of vegetables (beans) and smoke. Some caramel malts, prunes and notes of vegetables. Very light smokeyness. Not very good.

Cirrhosis (1283) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 15, 2009
Quarter inch stiff and wiggly tan cap (mmmmmmmm……..stiff and wiggly) that sits on top a hazy brown body. Very interesting aroma, nuts, tobacco and old bubble gum? Aroma is not the greatest but its complex and interesting. Flavour is like the aroma not the greatest but very interesting. Lots of nuts some astringent, I taste the smell of fabric Band-Aids, some cherries and all comes across mildly bitter. More that I drink the more I notice prunes, figs, a mixed bowl of nuts, some orange and mild smoke. Very interesting beer will worth a try. Thanks Gully
