The aroma is strange with chemicals, smoked malt, band-aids, and basement. The appearance is nice with hazy amber color and a large head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is OK. Overall this is one of the worst beers that I have had.

Bottled. An unclear orange-brown beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of smoke, caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet though with an edge of acidity and notes of smoke, malt, caramel, and oranges, leading to a bitter and burnt finish. Huge thanks to yespr for sharing.

Hazy red-amber. Soapy, off white, medium head. Aroma: Smoke, caramel malt. Flavor: Like a Rauchbier, almond, caramel. fruits. Bitter finish. Personally, I feel this brew has been under-rated. I confess to having a bias towards Smoked/Rauchbiers, which are Lagers but that is what this reminds me of. Is this right for a Barley-Wine? No! But, I still like it and that is what this website is about; Personal Opinion!

WeeHeavySD’s bottle at the Fri. 13th tasting. Heavy orange amber color. Nose kept making me think of a dentist’s office, but I cannot say why. Some citrus flavor. Latex.

Bottle from WeeHeavySD tasted at J&J’s Friday the 13th tasting. Thanks Jon! Very smokey aroma, almost too much. Amber color. Lasting creamy head. Bonus points being interesting. Flavor is low. If it’s from Italy, it’s probably expensive.

750ml via trade with Ibrew2or3. Shaed at our J&J tasting. Weird ingredients, and a unique outcome. Poured reddish with a tan head. Nose is sweet and smokey. Taste is sweet, smoky, nutty and interesting. I would have guessed a spice/herb/veg style with the chesnuts, I can’t say I’d call this a barleywine, it was strange to say the least.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours a dark brown amber color with a small canvas head. Nose is urethane or a children’s backpack , and smoked chestnuts. Taste: smoked pork, fish, and cloriseptic spray. Medium to short mouth feel and a lingering finish.
