Sampled at the brewpub. It poured a semi-cloudy orange/amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was faint, some citrus, some caramel and hops. The taste was hoppy, caramel, leaves and malt in the back. The finish ends bitter with a little pine. Decent. seymour (1985) - Maplewood, Missouri, USA - JUN 17, 2013
Tasted at the St. Louis Brewers Guild Heritage Fest 2013 in a sampler glass. It poured a mostly clear golden amber colour, some chill haze with white foam, long-lasting with some lace. Very hops-forward American IPA: powerful Cascade/Centennial grapefruit aspects, but some other fruity/flowery/earthy/resiny subtlety too. Tasty, malty grainbill underneath, faintly caramelly and bready. Well-balanced. Light-medium body, strong carbonation, lingering complex bittersweet aftertaste. Surprisingly smooth and refreshing for such high ABV and IBU. Very good stuff, Mike.
