On tap @ Alpha Brewing. Pour is a clear amber color with a khaki head. Sort of piny on the nose. A bit of orange peel and bread. Really papery, though. Somewhat tart, too. Flavor is kind of sour and citric with a real papery, chalky astringency. Fair amount of caramel and bread. A bit toasty. Mild roasted malt as well. jcnielsen (3412) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JUN 25, 2014
Sampled at Alpha Brewing during RBSG. Pours an amber color with white head. Toast, malty, caramel flavors. Tastes almost more like an amber than a brown. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 20, 2014
Clear orange amber color. Thin off-white head, kinda khaki. Decent grapefruit citrus hop nose. Bigger spicy malt in the flavor, which is kinda wierd. Moderate sweet taste, kind of spicy. Mild bitter. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Dry finish. Weird astringent finish. Not great. Bad aftertaste. Couldn’t finish this if I tried. Aftertaste is not good at all. Biting, for no reason. cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 20, 2014
On tap @ Alpha. Pours a bit hazy dark orange appearance with a lasting tan head. Slightly dank and piney with some caramel. Moderately sweet. Slight chocolate. Caramel, toffee, bitter piney flavor. Decent. phaleslu (10264) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 13, 2013
Draft at the brewpub, served in a sampler. Pours a cloudy, deep amber color with a small off-white head. Notes of brown sugar, toasted and caramel malts, toffee, and earthy hops. Medium-bodied, with a malty, sweet mouthfeel and soft carbonation. My favorite Alpha beer of the day.
