COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American Brown Ale with cold-brewed ’Rwanda Musasa’ coffee, which was roasted by our friends at the Treehouse Coffee Company. It has a great roasty flavor and aroma. Originally home brewed by one of our employees, Keith, we all liked it so much that Shawn decided to let him brew (and name) it, on a larger scale. We hope you like it as much as we do!

Dark brown with a lasting tan head. Yep, smells like coffee. Really well done malt backbone. Slight nutty note and a sweet coffee throughout. Toffee and coffee notes linger.

Tap at the brewery. Pours dark brown with a medium, frothy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is earthy coffee, toast malt, light nuttiness, earthy, spicy, and woody hops. Flavor is earthy and lightly bitter coffee, toast malt and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

On tap at the brewpub. It pours a very dark brown color with a light tan head. The aroma has huge notes of coffee roast with some chocolate. The flavor is dry roasted, slightly nutty with dark chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied and low carbonation. Decent.

Type: Draft Glass: 16-oz. pint glass From: Alpine Beer Company in Alpine, Calif. Price: $4.50 Purchased: April 12, 2015 Consumed: April 12, 2015 Misc.: N/A Poured a dark mahogany, reddish, brown color with 1-to-2 fingers of khaki tan head when I got it that thinned rather quickly. Good semi-layered, foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Poor retention. (Sight - 3.75) Smelled dark roasty coffee, bitter dark chocolate, crayon, roasty nuts and dark toffee. (Smell - 4.38) Tasted just like the smell, getting rich coffee malts, bitter coffee beans, dark chocolate, roasty wood, some crayon, dark toffee and caramel, and dark fudge. (Taste - 4.00) Full-to-medium body. Oily texture. Average-to-soft carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00) This was a really good coffee beer. I feel like I underrated it a tad, especially since I am a sucker for coffee ales. (Overall - 4.00) 4.06 91 A-

Tap at O’Briens. Pours a clear, deep amber with wispy foam. Nose is rich hazelnut coffee, sweet cherry. Taste is thin brown ale base with cold office coffeepot. Watery, weak. Pretty lazy coffee brown ale overall.

Om draft. Clear brown pour, with a light tan head. Nice coffee aroma and flavor. Mild nuttiness, malt, ground coffee beans, and some light bitterness. Good coffee beer.

Dogbrick (13776) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 13, 2013
Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear mahogany-brown color with a medium tan head that diminishes slowly. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted coffee, malt and chocolate. Light to medium body with a roasty character of coffee and malt, and notes of chocolate and hops in the background. The finish is mildly bitter with a roasted coffee aftertaste. Enjoyable brew all around.
