One of the rare instances that I’m blown away by an IPA. Aroma was big and juicy. Mango with dank cat piss and heavy pine and earth. Pour was a medium hazy gold with a thin off white film for a head. Taste was big and hoppy. Those strong hop flavors are amplified in the taste with a nice strong bitterness for a backbone. As soon as the swallow hit, the rye spiciness resonated and dried the finish up nicely. I might say this is the best IPA I’ve had all year (but it’s only February so we’ll see)! Nice carbonation jandd1983 (4318) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - FEB 22, 2016
Bottle. It poured a hazy golden color with an off-white head. The aroma was of malts, citrus and hops. The taste was similar to the aroma with more malts, citrus, hops and grapefruit. Very tasty. dresden (1581) - Saskatchewan, CANADA - FEB 19, 2016
Cloudy golden, slight orange. Fantastic aroma, white grape, wood, slight grass. Full body, light carbonation, delicious fruity melon, Berry, and slight rye spice. Best rye ipa I’ve had by far. Fantastic ryanscourt (1471) - Latrobe, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 19, 2016
UPDATED: JUL 20, 2016 Full mouth feel with great flavor. Heavy hoppiness that is really well balanced.
Rerated at the brewery 7/20/16- outstanding compared even to all of the fine competitors on tap here. tillmac62 (734) - Gaffney, South Carolina, USA - FEB 19, 2016
BBD 6/18/16. Pours a hazy gold with a touch of amber. Outstanding head volume, world class lacing and retention.
World class nose of tropical hops (mango, pineapple), citrus (orange) and a strong dank background over a touch of biscuit.
Heavy light body with a smooth texture that has an oily slick element. World class carbonation with a nice effervescent middle that coats the tongue and a finely bubbled prickly finish.
The flavor profile is borderline world class. Complexity is a bit weak, but the intent is to showcase the Nelson Sauvin hop and that is done in a world class fashion. Balance is perfect for the objective as a subtle cracker biscuit sweetness arrives in the middle to contrast a tasty bitterness that is quite mild for the style. Hop flavor is the name of the game with this one. The flavors of the nose all arrive...citric followed by tropical as the sweetness of the middle allows the tropicals to shine. Then a significant dankcentric element takes command and holds through the finish. The finish hints at dryness initially, but makes a lingering flourish underneath an amazing blend of tropical and dank hop flavor. This a bomber...Alpine / GF, 6 pack this bad boy!!

Bottle from The Beer Junction, Seattle; bb 16 Jun 2016OldMrCrow (2437) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 9, 2016
This is Nelson Sauvin juice, very pungent aroma, citrusy flavor; tropical, passion fruit, cat piss; a bit resiny in the finish; and because those guys at Alpine know their business, the body is dry, the malt flavor is very delicate, a bit crackery, so to not cover the hop.
UPDATED: MAR 30, 2016 I’ve wanted to try this for a while, and was very happy to find bottles at the Last Drop. Relatively light colored pour, good-sized white head with great lacing, nice gentle new-school nose. Wow, Nelson hops are so good. Like citra, but less...citra. The rye is really subtle but it’s there and it’s a serious addition. Yep, this is a 100% IPA. It’s not just pine and orange rind any more, bitches.

Further comments: After a few more rounds of this one, the previous rating holds up. I’d probably go 4.1 rather than 4.2, but that’s splitting hairs. As it gets a bit less fresh, the onions and garlic come out a bit further, but it still pwns my standby Alphadelic by virtue of a less aggressive malt base and less in the way of lingering bitter oils on the tongue.
The beer pours hazy golden orange with a dense of white head. The aroma has funk, dankness, tropical fruit, grape, pale malt and only a mild hint of rye. It has a medium body with some fruitiness and some soft carbonation. The flavor starts with good amount of pale malt, rye spice, hoppy spice, citrus, tropical fruit and some bitterness. The finish has more tropical fruits, green grapes and woody/spiciness. Quite nice. pressboxjoe (464) - , New Jersey, USA - FEB 3, 2016
UPDATED: MAR 10, 2016 First time I had it (2/3/16) I wrote: Distinctive. Resinous woody aroma, latex paint, with pear and pepper and distant musty pine. Good. Probably unbelievable fresh and on tap. Great white lacing. Second time I had it (3/8/16) I would say it was like a Grapefruit Sculpin. No grapefruit has been added, but you would almost swear it had been. It was like a completely different beer. Not sure which bottle I liked better, they were both good. VsXsV (4438) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 1, 2016
Draught at RateBeer Best festival. Light hazy orange liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of citrus, tangerine, light blackberries, light grain and mango. Taste is dry and medium bitter with notes of citrus, tangerine, blackberries and light grain. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Great stuff.
