If youre content with grabbing a six-pack of mega-brew from your local convenience store, quit reading this now. If, however, youve somehow become addicted to the flowers of the Humulus lupulus, you may have finally met your match. Alpine Beer Company has raised the bar for hop aroma, nose, mouthfeel and aftertaste. Opening a bottle of Pure Hoppiness is like spraying an aromatherapy can in the area -- except instead of lavender and jasmine, the air becomes filled with a citrusy-floral aroma which invites you to investigate and discover the pot of gold at the end of the brown glass bottle.

12oz bottl. 5/1/17 BB date. Appearance: Deep golden with a touch of orange, hazy, with a moderate foam cap and nice lacing. Aroma: Typical west coast IPA aroma of strong grassy, resinous, and citrus rind hoppiness. A touch more sweet, bready maltiness than a normal west coast IPA. Taste: Wow, wasnt expecting this hard on the aroma... Starets with really sweet maltiness with some caramel undertones, and a strong dank, resinous, and garlic like hoppy flavor that builds into a strong bitterness that balances well against the maltiness. Mouthfeel: Pretty heavy body for an IPA, with a low to moderate carbonation. Finish: Dry and sticky on the tongue, with some caramel malt, but the bitterness is the dominant factor. Overall: Maybe a bit too much maltiness to feel like a true west coast IPA, but thats not a bad thing as the overall depth and intensity of flavor was a surprise against a stereotypical west coast IPA aroma. With the strong maltiness, bitterness, and relatively heavy body for the style, this is definitely a slow drinker

Ar: Herbal and juicy fruit; some dried fruit leathers; a bit of oxidation; dried mango, some breakfast sausage. Ap: Deep orange and clear; small white head with moderate-low retention, leaves a ring of foam with mixed-sized bubbles and a patch of foam in the center. T: Grassy and lemony; very herbal and vegetal; salty and seaweed, somewhat phenolic; high bitterness, very harsh. P: Medium-full body with high carbonation; finish is medium dry. O: This beer is very harsh; lots of murky flavors--salt, seaweed, vegetal; perhaps a bad sample, though best-by date is over two months from now.

Amarelo levemente acima da tonalidade da IPA e session IPA, espuma branca de mdia formao e pouca persistncia. No aroma e paladar mais pinho, menos resina, malte mais presente do que a IPA. Corpo leve/mdio e mdia carbonatao. Ao final pinho vai ficando mais evidente. Achei as trs cervejas muito bem feitas e at certo ponto parecidas, principalmente no visual.

Tap - classic example from a region that invented this shit - resinous, oily texture, but still fairly clean and not overly heavy or sweet - citrus and pine, dank finish - peppery, spicy hop character and heavy but not abrasive bitterness.

Nice big IPA. Very spicy and resinous, but with a nice malty sweet body. Good balance. Good stuff.
