4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours with a dark brown body topped by a thin head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty with a light roasty bitterness and nice mocha notes. Full bodied, creamy and well carbonated.
"wow. what a letdown this was, not to mention a waste of money. this place has a good rep, and some super tasty (if very expensive) beers, especially the ipa variations. high hopes were dashed after the pour. smells pretty nice outta the bottle, but once pured, what at first is a subtle astringency in the aroma becomes overbearing by mid-glass. It’s present in the flavor too (oxidation, infection, whatever...) and the feel. It’s a shame too, cause there’s good things going on. Wonderful chocolate, roast and bourbon. But by the time we finished, you just couldn’t get past the issues. rejtable (2752) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 25, 2014

On tap at Tornado-Pours a dark black-brown with a small tan head which fades to lacing on the edges. Aroma is of roasted malts, milk chocolate, some coffee, molasses, and maybe some vanilla. Taste is of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, some molasses, and some light dark fruits maybe. Has a medium body with a creamy, velvety mouthfeel and a semi bitter, slightly dry finish. overall, a tasty Imp. porter that hides it abv very well and drinks easy for the style. Draft-Growler: Pours a clear almost black with a small tan head that disappears. The aroma is roasty with some hints of coffee. The taste is nicely balanced with roast and some sweetness. The palate is medium and clean. This is a very nice porter overall and continues in the Alpine tradition not to disappoint. Ibrew2or3 (8660) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAY 5, 2012
Poured up on tap at the brewpub with a deep dark body supporting a mocha head of foam. The aroma offers up loads of burnt malts backed up by chocolate brownie and dark roasted maltiness. The taste is similar with bold dark roasted malts mixing with burnt malts. It picks up some chocolate and a touch of earthiness and black licorice into the finish. Overall the body feels kind of thin and watery. Blairgus (4613) - California, USA - MAR 10, 2012
10 mar 2012, tap at the brewery. Winey porter. I'm not sure if i like it or not. It has a tartness like a sour beer and winey notes that I don't like with a porter. Just doesn't work for me.
