what a great beer, especially for all of the licorice lovers in the world. the licorice taste seems to be hidden until the finish. A great beer especially using the purity laws. Seems much more complex then the average German beer (which are for the most also great). wxman (1823) - O’Fallon, Illinois, USA - DEC 30, 2008

50 cl bottle from BevMo, Valencia. nose is some floral hopiness, golden raisins, caramel, cinnamon, and some vanilla notes. Clear dark rusty brown with a medium beige head. Flavor is not as sweet as I would have guessed from the nose, but only a slight sweetness combines with some slight hoppy bitterness, mixing with some caramel, molasses, and toffee. Finish is a lingering light bitter note. Very decent doppelbock. Moggman (235) - Columbus, USA - DEC 20, 2008

Swingtop from BevMo. Deep ruby color with a few bubbles - no head. Aroma of darker caramel and dark fruits. Medium body with mild, almost creamy, carbonation. Flavor is light roasted caramel - but dark. The dark fruit is not heavy, kind of like a little prune or raisin. Finish is somewhat sweet, but there is a certain astringency. Actually quite fruity after awhile. Skyview (6076) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - DEC 10, 2008
