guzgorog (1024) - FRANCE - MAR 28, 2017

rumore (1060) - Rimini, ITALY - DEC 8, 2016
From the bottle, at Grand Cru, Santarcangelo di Romagna, Italy. Chose this to warm up before attending a football match (it’s 11 degrees). Pours almost black with limited cappuccino head. Aroma is very inviting and alcoholic, with licorice, caramel, toasted malt, hints of coffee. Body is medium-thick, with stickiness and some carbonation. Taste is more sweet, but bitterness is present and somehow persistent. Finish is dry, only with some bitterness and stickiness left. This beer is filed as an imperial stout (and named both as a Belgian ale and a stout on the label. I’d see this much more as a Belgian strong ale.

Carbonnation moyenne. Trouvée à la Vanuxeem - Ploegstaert.

Hopverdju (1833) - BELGIUM - OCT 10, 2016
144 EBC 43 EBU. 10% vol alcohol.

BlackHaddock (8211) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - FEB 19, 2016
Shared from a bottle on 5th Feb 2016 at the 4th International Beer Swap in De bierboom, Brugge. I thought this very highly carbonated, not a gusher, but not far off. It poured a very dark brown/black, the head a lively off-beige. The nose was all about the yeast with some dark fruit esters vying with a malty chocolate trace to calm the yeasty dominance. The taste followed the aroma nicely, yeast first, dark malts second with the fruity element a poor third. Fairly dry finish but to ’fizzy’ for a Stout in my eyes.

SirLimpsalot (5067) - SWEDEN - NOV 3, 2015

gyllenbock (10421) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 31, 2015
Bottle from Bier Tempel. Dark brown with a medium head. Light roasted malt, some fruit and well hidden alcohol. The finish was on the sweet side.

NBird (626) - Perth, West Australia, AUSTRALIA - SEP 28, 2015
From nuetnigenough july 2015. Looks ..black, slight red hue ...large head Smells ..loads of chocolate and heavy roasty malts..cocoa Tastes..lots of chocolate, roasty malts, quite a bit of liquorice a little coffee too, a little more carbonated than a ’normal stout’ but not too carbonated at all.

Trappist1 (646) - Diest, BELGIUM - DEC 3, 2014
dark brown to almost black color with a yellow airy head. nose: yeast, wild yeast, dark fruits, sweet roasted malts, chocolate, metallic in the back. taste: yeast, dark malts, chocolate. MF: extremely fluent, soft body, average carbonation. bitter and a bit dry. Nice stout, well made and very enjoyable.
