Draught. Head is frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, cookie), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a note of orange. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Could have been old/soured, maybe an autumn seasonal? Had in November 2003 at the brewpub. jfb (6984) - GERMANY - APR 1, 2011

Aroma: grain, bread and caramel malts. Appearance: clear amber, medium, creamy, white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: malty sweets continue, lots of grain, cereals, caramel. Overall: OK Amber, quaffable and sweet throughout. Pint at the brewery, Nürnberg. Braudog (6900) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - DEC 10, 2011
Draft at the brewpub. This comes across as just a bit thin. There’s a hint of caramel and toffee, but generally this is not as characterful as the other two we tried. Certainly easy to drink, but I choose the others. (#4381, 11/30/2011) Marko (6285) - Split / Zagreb, CROATIA - APR 4, 2012
Draught at the brewpub. This poured a lovely, superb misty amber-red body, with an off white-tan head. The nose is immediately a small letdown though. Soft & malty, with very light notes of hard candy. The taste is unfortunately as I expected it after that... empty. Somewhat sweet, soft. with very light soapy/herbal notes. Ordinary.

On tap at the brewpub. Beer in the glass brownish, nice head. Roasty-malty aroma. Starts mild malty, modest roasty, some smokey notes. Also light nutty. Finish well balanced, soft-malty, quite drinkabkle. Not bad! ganache (6088) - New Jersey, USA - JUL 20, 2012
Tap in Nürnberg, dark red body, chestnutty with a lacing tan head. Malty sweet taste with lots of toffee, here are some nice juniper/heather notes to my taste, light hoppiness. My favorite of those available on my visit, though the ’Schwarz’ was probably its only competition. kerenmk (5357) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - OCT 8, 2017
On tap at Aldstadthof Hausbrauerei, Nuremberg. Clear amber. Faint red apple, a little bit of cereal and toasted grain. Tastes mildly sweet. Light body and low carbonation with an indistinguishable sweetish finish. Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 17, 2009
Draft @ brewpub. Hazy red with very thick cream-colored head. Fruity aroma is mostly apples. Is inviting enough. Same oily palate as the other two house beers. Very bland and easy, watery. Fruity malt, a decent apple and earthy flavor. thebeertourist (5188) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 24, 2011
On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Sweet caramel aroma followed by sweet molasses and hints of chocolate. On the sweet side, but drinkable.
