A friend brought a bottle from Germany for a tasting. The tasting was one week after best before date and unfortunantly the beer was more like a Rodenbach than a Schwarzbier. Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 17, 2009
Draft @ brewpub. Great, true black color with thick beige head. Cola aroma has some coffee grounds too. Slick palate has a little diacetyl. The coffee flavors are pronounced and has a porter quality to it as well as coffee creamer but not in a bad way. Drinkable. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUL 11, 2009

(as Schwarze). Very deep ruby red colour, close to black, with mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is quite much roasted malts along with some mild syrup and also mildly smoked wood, some grassy hops. Flavour is roasted malts, some smoked wet wood, caramel malts, some nuts, mild toffee as well as some tarry notes ("tervaleijona"like). Very pleasant brew!
On tap at the Brewery in Nuernberg. Ruby colored Molases flavors, only a little sweeter with a hint of smoke. Nice level of sweetness with flavors of nuts Bierkrug (2129) - - DEC 10, 2008
UPDATED: DEC 24, 2008 A great black beer. Lives up to its name and is very smoth for its type of beer. Nice light brown head and crisp carmel. Outstanding beer.

I taked it away in a one-liter flip-top bottle. Poured dark ruby-black with a creamy, delicious lacing beige head.Characteristic earthy aroma with roasted malt, cacao, some sourish yeast. Moderated carbonation, fine tart, a mountain of roasted garins, coffe and dark chocolate, some earthy character. Lemony and roasted aftertaste. It was fine!!! imdownthepub (15334) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 13, 2008
On tap at Altstadhof Brewpub, Nurnberg. Black with cream head. Quite a tarry, coffee impact right from the start then a heavy sweetness. Fruity sweetness, blackcurrant, right through with a dark roasted malt flavour. A reasonable beer. Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - JUL 2, 2008
Near black colored with red hints. Little light brown head. Sweet caramelly aroma with licorice and handmade yeasty note too. Good one, though not the most traditional schwarz beer aroma. Flavor is more dry with still caramel and licorice, aftertaste has yeast with some lemon. Good beer. TBone (18228) - Pori, FINLAND - JUL 27, 2007
Draught as "Schwarze" @brewpubGeiserich (4623) - Linz, AUSTRIA - JUN 7, 2007
Dark ruby color, small brownish head. Light coffeish, toasted nose. Coffee beans, cappuchino in the flavor with light caramelly notes. Some hops in the aftertaste. Light, but balanced dunkel/schwarzbier.
Big foamy, off-white head. Dark brown to black color. Fresh malty flavor, notes of roasted malt, toffee, light chocolate and cacao. Medium bodied, light bitter finish. Fresh malty nose, light fruity chocolate note. Pleasant and complex beer.
