On tap at Altstadhof Brewpub, Nurnberg. Black with cream head. Quite a tarry, coffee impact right from the start then a heavy sweetness. Had this on tap at Schwarzer Bauer, Hausbrauerei, Nuremberg, Germany, Tuesday 5th June 2012 Pours very, very dark brown with an off-white head. Bubbles tingle in the mouth again this has a good soft carbonation and has a nice sweetness with caramel and some dark sticky fruit als present. Clear red brown beer, big aery beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: caramel, bit earthy, overripe banana, bit lemony. MF: lots of carbon, light body. Taste: very unpleasant sourness, vinegar, bit of dried fruits. Aftertaste: very sour, lemony, vinegar. Clearly infected. Too bad.

This Schwarzbier seduces with its tight and muscular flavor layout comprising raisins, roasted cereals and chocolate-tinged caramel, all in a lush body.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slice of foam tops the blackened brown, leaving no lacing at all.
-This is a tad sweeter than your average Schwarzbier, but all the flavors are cohesive and nicely expressed.
-The finish is a bit too quiet for my tastes in the style. I would have preferred lengthier malts or hop bitterness.
-The malt profile is complex and quite flavorful.
-Hops seem accessory, but the wooden, herbal connotations add depth to the compelling malt profile.

Doughy minerally fruit (strawberry).
Fullbodied, creamy mouthfeel.
on tap at the brewery which is a damn nice place. had a big beige head peering out from the top of the ceramic mug, a quick pour of a few drops into a used hefeweizen glass showed it to be a dark brown with a purple tinge. aroma of sultanas, cocoa powder and a faint hint of some stewed fruit. incredibly lush in the mouth and then does a nice little disappearing act. hint of charcoal in the lightly bitter finish. all class, hard to imagine a better schwarzbier
