My Bottom Line : Lowenbrau (4362) - Asturias, SPAIN - JAN 18, 2017
This Schwarzbier seduces with its tight and muscular flavor layout comprising raisins, roasted cereals and chocolate-tinged caramel, all in a lush body.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slice of foam tops the blackened brown, leaving no lacing at all.
-This is a tad sweeter than your average Schwarzbier, but all the flavors are cohesive and nicely expressed.
-The finish is a bit too quiet for my tastes in the style. I would have preferred lengthier malts or hop bitterness.
-The malt profile is complex and quite flavorful.
-Hops seem accessory, but the wooden, herbal connotations add depth to the compelling malt profile.
On tap at the brewpub.

As "Altstadtof Das Schwarze".
Pours hazy dark brown-copper with garnet reflections. Nice light tan head, frothy,. Moderate head retention, some lacing. Coffee and roasty, licorice nose. Medium body, average carbonation, oily texture. Taste is roasty, some coffee, malty, sweet aftertaste.
Pours dark brown with a red gleam and a fine though disappearing tan head. Lots of milk chocolate and creamy notes in the aroma. Full and nicely balanced. Sweet smoooth chocolaty flavor with toffee, malt and brown sugar. Really tasty and highly drinkable. Thanks a lot ChristianSA :-) Braudog (6763) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - DEC 10, 2011
Draft at the brewpub. Wow ... another delicious offering at this little place! Roasty malt, toasty and finishing with a nice little mildly sweet flourish. I love little hausbrauerei! (#4380, 11/30/2011) armando629 (2456) - Budapest, HUNGARY - NOV 16, 2008
I taked it away in a one-liter flip-top bottle. Poured dark ruby-black with a creamy, delicious lacing beige head.Characteristic earthy aroma with roasted malt, cacao, some sourish yeast. Moderated carbonation, fine tart, a mountain of roasted garins, coffe and dark chocolate, some earthy character. Lemony and roasted aftertaste. It was fine!!!

(as Schwarze). Very deep ruby red colour, close to black, with mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is quite much roasted malts along with some mild syrup and also mildly smoked wood, some grassy hops. Flavour is roasted malts, some smoked wet wood, caramel malts, some nuts, mild toffee as well as some tarry notes ("tervaleijona"like). Very pleasant brew!

1l bottle. Reddish dark brown body, light brown head. Aroma of coffee, dark fruits and creme. Pretty much like the aroma of a good stout. Lots of coffe in the taste with creme and dark fruits. Very balanced beer. I like it. thellgren (1082) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 9, 2014
