07&08/10/2016 @home - 75cl bottle from an incredible trade with tderoeck, about 14 months overdue. Very dark brown with a purple hue. Massive rocky head (no gushing!), leaving a thick creamy, tanned lacing for a long time. Nose is light port (I suppose from the aging), then huge dark malts, caramel, red fruits, wood and alcohol, marvellous. Taste is first some port, mocha, chocolate, red fruits, a bit light earthy "Oud Bruin" notes, red wine, gentle bitter roasted malts and some hops at the end. Really amazing. I think the ageing did very well for this beer and even made it better and more complex. Even at the ABV it’s amazing, certainly because it’s not that sweet and not that typical barley wine.

Nice and dark intense beginning. Hints of wood and slightly sourness with lots of malt and roast. Round and intense, malty, smooth. The alcohol is not tastable, very smooth and round!

Koelschtrinker (21489) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - SEP 21, 2016
Malziger, süß-säuerlicher Antrunk mit etwas zu starker Karbonisierung. Deutliche Holznoten, mild vergoren fruchtig. Noten von Kirschen. 10/11/11/11//11

75cl bottle. Orange braune Farbe, geringe beige schaumkrone. Geruch intensiv malzig, dörrobst, rote Früchte, Holz. Geschmack nach dunklem Holz, rote Früchte, leicht schokoladig, hohe Karbonisation.

Bottle, slight gusher. Brown color with ruby highlight and a big tan head. Aroma is port, molasses, dark fruits. Taste is molasses, sugar, prunes and other dark fruits, and a tart fruity sting. High carbonation. Nice, but overcarbonated.

Bottle from Smedtje. Taste yesterday 29.12.’14 with beerfriends @ Gullegem. Deep red color, with small off-white head. Aroma: sweet, red cherries. Medium to full body. Taste: sweet, cherry, alcohol warm.

Alengrin (5718) - BELGIUM - SEP 10, 2014
Ultra heavy barley wine in cooperation with an English hobby brewery. Creamy, thin head quickly dissipating under influence of the alcohol, deep bronze colour. Complex, vinous aroma of plum brandy, pear, port wine, candi syrup, strawberry, kahlua... Soft fruity taste, sweet and mildly spicy, complex with pleasing retronasal perfume, very vinous with mild herbal hops and warming, liqueurish, non-astringent alcohol. Very tasteful.

Martinus (4701) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - JAN 26, 2013
Clear reddish colour, beige head. Quite a gusher. Caramel aroma, wild yeast, rain water and sugar. Caramel flavour, molasses, quite sweet, light sour. Quite sour finish, sickly, caramel and molasses.
Have a slight feeling it was infected..

75cl bottle sample @ RBBWG 2013 from Alvinne biershop. Despite Glenn’s advise to keep this one cold to avoid a gusher, the bottle still managed to lose about a 1/3 of its content.

Bottle shared at the CBC - Clerkenwell 1st Birthday Party, London. It gushed significantly, FYI. Pours cloudy amber-brown with a large, tan foam head. Big sweet aroma, ceramel and super ripe fruits. Big sweet flavor as well, tons of fruits, among them grapes, assorted berries and plums. Medium to full bodied with super high carbonation. Warming finish with loads of ripe fruits, candied fruits, grapes, cherries, alcohol. It has some nice, mild aged malts and old fruit tones as well. Pretty good, if a touch beastly.
