Part of the first German beer tasting in Idar-Oberstein. Thanks to Shrubber85. Warning a huge gusher. It took two two half litter glasses just to get it to stop. 750 ml Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Head was like whipped cream and is the thickest foam I have ever seen. You can set your glass almost sideways and the head will not move at all. Aroma is dried fruit, caramel, and toffee. Taste is plums, molasses and spices. Palate is dry but very nice. thewolf (12787) - Kolding, DENMARK - APR 23, 2011

Mild gusher. Pours deep brownish red with a giant, frothy, off-white head. Sweet aroma, esters, caramel, mild roasted, some dark chocolate, a hint of metal, okay vinious. High, prickly carbonation, fine oily and okay dry palate. Flavour is sweetish, but balanced by fine dark malts. Caramel, toasted, light dark chocolate, biscuits, Belgian sugars. Warming, fairly elegant, even if it is a tad to the sweet side. And shame about the carbonation being too high.
Botella. Unclear deep dark brown-reddish colour, medium beige head. Dark malty spice like caramel sweet aroma. Flavour is sweet with dark malts and caramel along with some spice and alcohol, medium bitterness, quite sweet, too sweet for my likings. Anker (723) - Hillerød, DENMARK - MAR 26, 2011

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a hazy dark brown with a beige head. Another slow but massive gusher from Alvinne! Lovely sweet aroma of overripe fruit and wood. Medium body, great initial flavours of plums and overripe fruit - kinda Quad-like - but later on comes some plastic and rubbery notes. Quite some hops in here. Warming alcohol finish. A bit messy but lots of good things in there. 180311 Ungstrup (38380) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - MAR 18, 2011
Bottled. A red-brown beer with a huge lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, and nuts. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, alcohol, caramel, and nuts, leading to a bitter alcoholic finish. fewa (41) - Beersel, BELGIUM - FEB 26, 2011
Bottle at the molen festival. This is a decent barley wine, nicely sweet, and fruity. The beers has the typical alvinne sourness in it as well. Worth to try!
