wine aroma. thick mouthfeel. unfortunately a gusher. reddish tinge. very dangerously drinkable. kraddel (8173) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JAN 26, 2016
Pours black, small grey head. Smell def. has some sourness ( I think this is dated from when Alvinne used to have some problems ) sharp, some oak. not nearly as heavy as one might think it will be. Taste is sour, very dry, oak, some light boozyness. roasted malts are very faded, rise up a tiny bit towards the ending. Hmm. I really don’t like the style of sour stouts, but this one doesn’t have to much of the black malt-side, making it a kind of sour-ale thats enjoyable. Lots of oak in here and not a whole lot else. Pours dark brown with ok head and lacing. Some roast. Overbarrelled, overpriced. Hype hype hype. Tap at Churchkey. NikkTwist (3225) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 25, 2014
Draft at Farmers Cabinet. Very dark hazy copper pour with a lasting tuff of beige foam. Sweet dark rotted apples. Playful dark malts. Syrupy brown fruit. Prunes. Figs. Pecans. Molasses. Dark chocolate caramels. Bing cherry cordials. Sparks of smoke and sour. Flavors are complex but run a bit thin (could be an old keg). Quite interesting. jackl (8092) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 30, 2014
Keg @ Holy Grale. Hazy reddish amber with a small head. The nose is very fruit. Blackberry, dark tangy fruit compote. The taste is pretty tangy. More blackberry, strawberry preserve. Some citrus. A bit of chocolate. Leaf pile. Medium body, soft carb. Not bad.
