[email protected] Trappiste - hazy dark brown beer with a little foam left; aroma of plums, banana and wood; notes of pear and Cognac; full-bodied and highly sweet, tons of residual sweetness, figs, plums and other ripe fruits in a long woody aftertaste - very good but clearly too sweet for me to be great

16.9 oz bottle I won in a friendly wager by betting against LeBron. This beer is very dark and dense with small red hues and a little off-white head. Aroma is sweet with distinct vinous notes. Plums, brown sugar, rum, licorice and oak are all noted. The body is huge and the 14% abv is adeptly masked. This is a little too sweet for me to totally go nuts over it, but it is a very tasty beer. The notes of wine are distinct and bold, mixing with sweet, dark fruits; licorice; molasses; and oak. Its crazy how much vinous character is imparted. The yeast adds a nicely subtle fruitiness. This is a big and bold beer, 6 oz. may be enough for me, though I cant say getting through the whole bottle was an unpleasant experience.

(On tap @ VilleValla Pub, Linkping, Sept 4 2015) Pours hazy medium brown with a small off white head and lace. Aroma dry, caramel core restrained, stewed pear, tart red fruits, oak, leather, dry leaves, lightly roasted, some alcohol. Flavour is mid-sweet at first, caramel, stewed fruits, baking apple, oak, vanilla, alcohol, tart fruity quality. Finish is quite dry, apple pie and wood. Bitter, woody, a bit alcoholic. Medium body and very soft carb. A little boozy but dry and good!

On draft @ HaandBryggeriet Beer festival 2012. Murky brown body with a small beige head. Nice aroma of malt and chocolate with some acidity. Flavor has a fine balance between sweetness and acidity, quite sweet, but does not feel sticky in the mount. Taste of dark malt, caramel, chocolate, a hint of vinegar and warming alcohol, more alcohol in the aftertaste. Full body. This is a really tasty and complex brew.

0,5 L bottle. An unclear deep reddish brown body, under a ring of sand-colored bubbles. Sweet dark caramel and dark dried fruits to the nose. Some barrel notes and faint alcohol too. More than medium full. Thick and juicy in the mouth. Rich malt flavor. Sweet, with burnt caramel and jammy dark fruits. Distinct barrel notes, and a good amount of bittering hops in the backbone. Warming, rich bitter-sweet aftertaste. A balanced, tasty, and dangerously easy drinkable Quad.
