Marduk (7694) - Reval, ESTONIA - DEC 13, 2013
330ml bottle (shared by Chris, thanks). Dark brown color. Blackcurrant jam, wine, chalk, metallic, wine in aroma. Quite rich aroma. Moldy, acidic, sulfur, sour taste. Very faint hazelnut in aftertaste.

Initially a nice wood glue aroma, nice dard treacly caramel aspects, some spiciness, almost clove, slightly christmassy. Clear, has some rubberiness. Sharp acidic retronasals. Even more acidic as you swallow. Clear, more rubbery. Cloudy, less so but more tart and sour. Middle glass had the best balance. Slight ashiness or ashtray aspects detract a little.
Rerate: 330ml bottle (7+:4:7:4:14=3.6+)
Beautiful sourish aroma, has a great balance. Even better than I remember it. Nice one. Don’t care if rerate, this is a beer I wanted again and it didn’t disappoint.

Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 28, 2013
In short: A very harsh, oaky-tannic, semi-sour and acetic fruity dark ale. Meh.
How: Bottle 330ml, age unknown, found in the cellar, certainly over one year of age.
The look: Very dark burgundy (near black) body topped by a small beige head leavin very little lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is moderately acetic acid, dark fruits, oak. Taste is blackberris, earthy grainy malts, tart dark grapes, past due-date cheap red-wine, blue cheese, oak tannins, moderate acetic acid presence, fruits seeds, astringent finish. Body has a rough texture (some sawdust sensation) with minimal carbonation. Sourness level is medium, acetic acid is bothersome but not overwhelming, oak tannins are very aggressive and create a rough finish. Overall a harsh beer that is not easy to drink. Meh. And whoever is making my voodoo doll type beer ratings every time it drinks a beer please stop it, it is disturbing and pathetic.

Draft at Redlight. Aroma is good with that classic sour/wild and it opens up to a deep taste with some sweetness and then some intense sour. Mouth puckering but also has good texture. Finish lingers and stays with you. Really great!

Bottle 330ml. Thx Czar. Pours with a gusher. Deep brown with low beige head. Good lacing. Unsafe particules floating on top. Aroma is of wood, berries, fruits. Taste is of berries, pronounced sourness, fruits. Palate: Mucus thick. Gross. Overall: Infected. It’s a shame because this one looks like it could have been very good.

(gusher) pours like maple syrup (meaning as thick, really) with a nice reviving light beige head, some retention and lacing, particles floating and a surfacing film tends to form.. warning: very bad infection makes it totally undrinkable - gag-alert at first sip. aroma is quite flemishy nice - wood, cherries, vinous character, spicy caramel, caramelized nuts, acetic and lactic - bit of ketchup. full body - because of its majot defect, low carbonation, lightly acidic and grassy-spicy finish. such a bummer though..

Lubiere (13911) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 16, 2013
A deep dark stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, a nice bitter chocolate with good cherry notes, Brett, nice and complex. In mouth, a nice fruity chocolate malt with ground cherries, smooth acidity, Flemish sour like. Sampler at Battle of the Belgians at Jimmys 43.

merc7186 (3142) - North Tonawanda, New York, USA - NOV 15, 2013
A: Opaque Hue, Passes Almost No Light, Thick Brown Head that dissipated quickly, No Lacing S: Pinot Noir, Vinegar, Tart Cherries, Anise, Mild Chocolate T: Vinegar, Tart Cherries, Acidic, Mild Red Wine, Mild Black Licorice M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Semi Acidic, Mildly Bitter, Mildly Metallic Overall, a very complex beer with a big mixture of a Flanders Red and Oud Bruin beers, just slammed together. Complex but not over bearing on the back end even though it is kind of metallic.

Swaroga (2221) - Warszawa, POLAND - NOV 6, 2013
33cl bottle. Dark brown with small head. NOSE : wood, cherry, strong resin, cooked fruits, dried fruits, smoked aromas. SIP : oily texture, almost no carbonation. Medium body. The beer has moderately sweet flavors from fruits but it gets covered by sour cherry and overwhelming resin and smoke notes. Cooked fruits and fermentation in the finish, still resin is strong with this one. First time I feel resin aromas so strong in a beer. Finish is acidic and fruity. OVERALL : I have big trouble drinking this one. As much as I respect Alvinne Brewery and oak aging, this one is definitely the worst one I tasted so far.

.33l bottle from Bier and Cheese in Queens. Tasty, tart little beer. Heavy medicinal note, like a really well put together Croatian rakija with lots of herbs. Red fruit tannins. Good puckering tartness. Candy like though. All in all an entertaining and tasty beer. The added red fruit from the barrels is a bit much, makes this a bit of a muddle to get all the flavors that are certainly there. Interesting and tasty beer to work with.
