Draft at Bavarian Lodge. Guess we missed connections again, Alum. Color is just a shade lighter than the average stout. Thin scraggles of foam. The smell brings up sour cherries with a little roasted malt and chocolate, then notes of red wine. Taste is all about the sourness; I can’t find much of the dark malt at first. The cherry yields to cream sherry. Quite puckery. A fuller texture than the average sour beer. Now I’m picking up some chocolate roast malt toward the end. And at the very bottom, a sense memory of Pop Rocks. Definitely a sipper.

Bottle from beer[malade]. Brown color with thick light beige head. Aroma of yeast, red wine, candies, cherries, plums, wood, light oxidation. Nice sour taste with vinous notes, nougat, cherries, wood, light oxidation. Tasty.

Prawie jak burgundzkie wytrawne czerwone wino. Wyglad bardzo ciemny braz z nielicznymi refleksami krwistej czerwieni. Prawie bez piany, no moze na centymetr, gruboziarnista. Zapach, sliwowicy, wina, w smaku mokre drewno, nieco kwasnej wisni, winogrona cos w stylu shiraz, a wiec przyprawowosc wraz z kwaskiem, doskonale wytrawne winne i beczkowe w smaku, troche ciezkie, mimo ze alkohol perfekcyjnie ukryty. Wspaniale do dziczyzny czy wolowiny zamiast wina. Klasa sama w sobie. Zdecydowanie dla doswiadczonych jest to piwo

Vom Fass im Muted Horn Berlin 2017-03 getrunken. Hui! Na da war das Weinfass beim Befüllen wohl noch nicht ganz leer gewesen? Eine schöne deutliche Rotweinnote, die diesem Bier richtig gut passt. Eich echt tolles Sour Ale!

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2017 Pretty over the top tart with a lot of barrel-wine flavorings and lemon sourness and plum. No carbo, no head, somewhat syrupy. Some funky musty smells. What little carbo I feel could prolly round out the experience better.

Bloody, copper aroma. Sour cherry peaks throughout the flavour with a background of oak, wood, and earth. Aside from the pucker in which it leaves your mouth, a rather watery mouthfeel. Not sure if this was my thing.

On Tap Hazy ornge wth no head. just a thin ring of fine bubbles around the edge. Cidery sourness, some vinnegar notes. Light pitted fruit and the wine barrels leave behind a nice flavor.

330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. Pours a brown brew, slight murkiness and temptation - ring of tan foam lets you know the score. Nose is vinous yet malty - cherry, dark toast & burnt sugars, plum, nuts, funky horse & old barrels. And...then we shift up a gear - body is far more immense than expected - very full, carbonation subdued but that’s a good thing at this juncture. Theres a richness at first, then it leads to vinous acidity, and tannin, ending sort of ropey (Pedicoccus?). Flavours are quite tremendous really - old wood, chocolate/cocoa, burnt sugar, roast nuts, black plums, cherry pip, horse in a barn possibly looking to take a dump or roll over not sure, citrus rind (that builds), that sort of herbal/leafy note you get with Brett (?), leather too also almost like saddle, too many horse references, blueberry in a weird way, stinky washed rind cheese. What journey - this is brilliant!

Carbonnation moyenne. Trouvée à Vanuxeem - Ploesgtaert.
