Vintage 2003. Warm amber with a huge, nice and creamy head. The mouthfeel is very flat. The aroma has a light sweetness and notes of alcohol, fruit and yeast. The flavour has sweetness, notes of malt, fruit, alcohol, citrus, quite a bit of yeast, and it has a nice bitterness, growing towards the finish. The alcohol is a bit too dominant IMO. Bottle, bought @ Tønden, Haslev.beerbuzzmontreal (3486) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 19, 2008
Deep, muddy orange with a big, frothy off-white head. Fizzes away slowly. Aroma is deep of toffee, oranges, plums, grapes, yeast, citrus. High carbonation, rather creamy. Flavour is sugary sweet with a heavy dose of hoppiness. Pine, citrus and oranges appear again. A bit ill-composed, but still a nice brew.
Bottle sampled at Brugs Bertje. Pleasant aroma of herbal hops, yeast and mild rubber. Cloudy golden pour with a medium white head. Good flavor of herbal hops with yeast, it’s also well attenuated. The body is medium with a creamy texture and medium carbonation. I prefer the "restyled" version of the Extra, but this first version is still a pretty good beer. Bottle labelled ’Alvinne Extra’, ’dryhopping’ and ’7.1%’. Aggressively sweet, hoppy aroma pumped up with spruce, citrus, yeast and vanilla. Pours with an orange haze and collapsing white froth. Only the very brave or curious would dare tip the remaining black clods of detritus remaining in the bottle into their tulip. Flavour harshly alcoholic, burning, smokliy antiseptic and earthy/yeasty in the manner of some of the De Dolle beers. Hopping robustly piney and citrussy, but overwhelmed by TCP/mouthwash/disinfectant notes and alcohol burn. Didn’t do anything for me except give me instant heartburn. Drank about half of it.

Flaske. Desværre. rauchbier (3949) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - DEC 29, 2007
Bottle, at ZBF 2006. Gold, thin white head and moderate condition. Sweet malt in the nose, soft sweet and fruity in the mouth, gentle maltiness in the finish with a developing dry yeast note towards the end.

Comments: A bit aggressive mixture of sharp and strong hops with the Belgian yeast. Still, a fairly complex beer that pushes hard on many sides at once.
Extra lively, Extra orange maybe, but not really extra bitter. Looks nice, a cloudy tangerine color with a white head, lasts a while, nice lacing. Caramel sugar, yeasty, orange-citrus nose. Sweet and tangy beer (orange notes again), with only light bitterness. Allegedly dry hopped, although it’s hard to tell... maybe that accounts for the slightly bitter, almost medicinal tang in the back of the throat. Medium to full body and lively. Enjoyed it, liked the citrus angle, but it was a bit sweet, and a stronger hop presence might have added more dimension. DownsouthGav (601) - Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 2, 2007
Big head. Blonde hue. Malt and smokey nose. Taste is of smokiness, oak and malt. Leaves an enduring taste. Very well balanced and poised, elegant even.
