33 cl. bottle @ home. BBF 09/2014. Procured from Willems. Put it in the fridge before opening, virtually no gushing,… success. Very dark brown, beige head is big bubbles, quickly vanishing to nothing. Light kiwi in the nose, light powdery chocolate, flowers, nicely hoppy, lovely bitterness, light berry, sweet malts, cacao, some chocolate,… Taste is bitter kiwi, white grapes, lightly floral, lightly ashy chocolate, cheap cacao powder, light spices and kiwi, hoppy bitter finish, small hints of sourness,… Very effervescent,… Nice dark version of the regular one. Could use less carb. Although might be quite watery then, not sure,…. This is not quite there and big jumbled but enjoyable never the less with positive sides.

Bottle. Light gusher, pours a very brown beer with a huge, rented head consisting out of large bubbles. Aroma is quite yeasty, fruity and has a very light hop character in the background. Flavor is quite bitter with a fizzy mouthfeel. Doughy flavors as well, not very impressive.

Dark mahogany, almost black in glass. Big frothy head medium long and beige, bit lacing that does not look that nice. Bit funky, malt and hoppiness, ripe fruits. Fizzy crisp light feel, dry finish is bitter and long, tasty. Quite interesting beer, tasty and funky.

33 cl bottle @ home. Batch #609: BBE 09/2014
Alvinne did it again! My big Karmeliet glass is 3/4 head and 1/4 beer. Aroma is fruity with some urinal cake, grapefruit and peppery spices. Feels weird and stale after the head is gone. Flavour is rather strong on peppery spices and finishes with salty licorice, herbs and floral notes. Aftertaste is bitter in a harsh way. Lacks the refreshing aroma that Freaky had – roastiness and sourness usually don’t mix. And they don’t mix in this beer either.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2013 330ml bottle (K Kamppi)
Cola brown, enormous sudsy self-supporting head. Rich grainy aroma, a little sharp and winey despite fiving off a darker roast hint. Quite thin body, but nice roasty and berry retronasals. Carbonation quite high. Nicely roasty, a bit yeasty, and a great bitter bite. Anna liked it less than me, suggesting 3.2, but I’m definitely in the 3.4 camp. However, we both think this is a good 3.8% quaffer - I love the bitter bite and tingle in the finish. Such a dry palate. Nicely attenuated and well crafted.

33 cl bottle. BBE 09/2014.
Pours dark brown color with a huge frothy head. Aroma of sour fruits, yeast, some spice notes, caramel malts and mild hoppy notes. Some subtle goose berry bush too. Flavor of sour fruits, goose berries, yeast, earth notes and some wood. High CO2, almost escaped from the bottle, sour and a tad metallic palate. Not very balanced.

330 ml bottle.
Pours a dark brown, almost black colour with a white head. Aroma of roasted malts, espresso and some pungent citrusy notes. Flavour of strong roasted malts, sour berries, citrus, grassy bitterness, espresso and sweet caramel. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a sour, roasty and light bitter finish. Weird.

For some reason I can’t smell too many aromas but it has a light sourness to the nose. Cola brown beer with a freakishly big head. If the head belonged to a person he would work in a circus. Mouth feel is dry and sour. Very light bodied. This kind of sourness is not the first thing I want from a beer but I’m glad that it’s not as sour as stomach acid is. There’s also strong and sharp bitterness. I don’t see a reason why I would buy this again because I’m not a big fan of sour beer.

33cl bottle. Bbe sept/14. Colabrown, mediumsized head. Sour, lactic yeasty aroma, similar flavor. Fail. Something wrong with this bottle.

kingstoni (2088) - FINLAND - NOV 14, 2012
Bottle. Very dark brown color, near black. Foamy beige head with lacing. Sweet aroma of coffee and licorice. Taste of roasted malt. Medium body. Slightly bitter finish.
