Draft on tap at Bavarian Lodge (Lisle, IL). Part of their Belgian Fest/Night. Pours a brownish hue, lighter copper edges with a firm haze, but still a healthy glow to it. Frothy tan head with a touch of red or auburn to it in the light, decent sized moves to an ok film, laces ok. Aromas are some decent sour cherries and vinegar, touches of red wine, lactic acid, a touch of earth and metal. Wet oak, with a touch of maltiness pushing through, a bit beat up, some toast, bread, and light caramel. Initial is moving towards lighter bodied, a sustained sour cherry and vinegar feel, cherry skins, sour and a touch of metal. Wet oak, more vinegar and sour cherries, red wine kinda lingers on and dries out. A touch of sweetness from the cherry, bread, and biscuits in the middle of the beer as the sour cherry, vinegar, touch of metal, good feel of lactic acid follow through and linger on the palate into and past the finish. Touch of nuttiness, darker fruits, biscuits, toast. Some vanilla and red winey tannins from the oak linger on. Nice sour, well balanced and a firm sourness and barrel presence without getting overbearing or acetic. That seems the MO with the Alvinne sours.. They’ve all been well done, firm yet balanced, nothing way over the edge or overbearing. Pretty damn drinkable with a solid flavor, firm sourness. Draft at 2011 Max’s Belgian Fest at 2008 Oak Kerasus: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a semi-sweet toasty caramel and light fruity tart nose with some vinous oak. Starts with average fullness and light carbonation with some oily texture and light caramel and fruity tartness. Finishes drier and oaky with some lingering vinous flavor. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 12, 2010
A Mes rate: bottle at home, MASSIVE thanks to Glenn and Davy for sending me a bottle home with Sim when I missed the festival.HogTownHarry (7010) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - AUG 23, 2011
Woo HOOOOOO this is a good one. God knows what you Danish folks are thinking but for me this is very enjoyable indeed. Sim agrees, and so does our Magic Tom. Aroma is through the roof. Simply amazing cherries and cinnamon goodness with a good amount of wood and bourgogne showing through. Just adorable. The flavour is pretty much the same but there is just a hint of metal that holds it back but just a touch. Palate gets a five because the drinkability is absolutely effortless. Finish is more sublime cherries that has glorious length and eventually settles on some great barrel notes. Just bloody great stuff all round.
August 16, 2011 - 750ml bottle courtesy of nate2g shared with .. several other folks. 2009 bottle, only 250 bottles made. Ruby-amber, diminishing white head, looked lovely. Vinous, oaky, soft aroma - big red wine tannins, sweet and sour, juicy - the brett is not all that prevalent but the oak, oh my the oak, yes. Taste - frickin’ great - orange zest, red wine, light oak and alcohol - so good, a joy to drink - that’s how you do barrel-aging!! Average body, a bit sticky, lightly acidic, decently carbonated, a sophisticated tingly finish of green oak and citrus bitterness. So good. blutt59 (6565) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 12, 2011
bottle, thanks to bu11zeye, red muddy brown color with nose of vinous, sweet fruit and balsamic, flavor is vineyard, peppery bo and sweet cherries

Sour cherry and persimmon nose, with the cherry very prominent. Rose colored, no head. Tart cherry flavor, light wood, and hints of rose petals. Delightful level of sourness, good degree of complexity. zvikar (6198) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - JUL 9, 2011
At the sour tasting, thanks DSG, pours rusty red with no head, aroma of acids, fruits like strawberry and grapes with some honey, wood and vanilla, flavor of cocoa, acids, wood, apricot, zesty with medium body, pretty nice. thirdeye11 (6160) - Dallas, Texas, USA - AUG 14, 2011
(750ml bottle thanks to bu11zeye) cloudy red with tan bubbles. Nose of sour cherries, tart, funky, wet wood. Taste of wet wood, cherry, cranberry, tangerine, soft carbonation and easy to drink. Nice sour! Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - MAY 1, 2011
Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a reddish color with an off-white head. The aroma is heavy on the dark fruit with some brown sugar and oak aged notes. Fairly complex and very enjoyable. The aroma is more of the same. I get some lightly tart dark fruit, strawberries and cherries, as well as some oak aging notes. The tartness is fairly minimal. The beer is easy to drink. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. skortila (5894) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - APR 14, 2010
On tap @ Pre ZBF. The aroma has cherries, wood. Hazy, red coloured beer with a thin head. The taste is slightly sour, has cherries, woody tones, perhaps some vanilla. Good balance there. Nice brew.
