500ml bottle in a stem glass. Pours hazy reddish/brown with a small, off-white head. Aroma of cherries, sourness, some light lactic notes, some pale and caramel malts, and maybe more hints of fruits. Flavor the same with a nice sourness. Average texture. A really cool beer.

Bottle at BBF 6, 2013 vintage, 27/09/14. Dark chestnut brown with reddish hues and little in the way of a covering. Nose is tarte cherries, spice, bitter red berry fumes, musty wood, dank hay, big tangy red fruitness. Taste comprises subtle fruit balsams, bitter dark fruit licks, tarte cherry skins, leather. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, tangy cherry wash in the close. Decent cherry sour.

Drank this at Borefts Festival at De Molen. I really enjoyed it. It had a great sourness and very natural cherry flavour. It was one of the few beers at the festival that I went back and had another glass of.

Alengrin (4814) - BELGIUM - AUG 24, 2014
Authentic cherry beer made with actual fruit instead of the extracts and sugar overload one would expect. Loose, yellowish head and deep ruby red colour, hazy. Fruit acidity, obvious sour cherry, impressions of plum and redcurrant, caramel malt base, bit bready, spicy yeastiness, above average hop bitterness in the finish (for the style); in all, a fascinating play of bitter, sweet and sour, perhaps not completely coming together, but complex in any case.

Een bier met een heel uitgesproken smaak, maar het was niet echt mijn ding.
