Bottle @ BBF. Hazy golden color, medium creamy head. Aroma of caramel malt, slight sweet, bit soft sour mustard notes, bourbon. Nice creamy texture. Slight sweet and malty taste, with bourbon and oaky notes, bit fruity of orange and slight sour of mustard. mike_77 (7226) - Breda, NETHERLANDS - APR 30, 2013
ZBF Festival 2013 - Pale brown. The initial impact of this one is it’s thin body and lack of carbonation. The warming bourbon/alcohol is very prominent and also gives some vanilla sweetness to and increasingly dry finish. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 5, 2009
A Mes rate. Bottle at 1st Borefts Beer Festival.jfb (6975) - GERMANY - MAY 16, 2013
Excellent clean gold with a good white head and lace. Aroma is amazing. Fruit a plenty, really good sugary notes and some excellent barrelly notes. The flavour is equally brilliant. Soft and sweet, beautiful apples and tropical fruit. Unusual juicy yet dry feel. Excellent barrelly character and gorrrrrrgeous booze in the very lengthy finish. Not my best rate but this is one of Davey and Glenn’s best.
(draught) pours a hazy deep golden colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of powdered sugar, pear, cactus juice, light bread crusts, burnt toffee and vanilla. flavour is quite sweet and boozy, with notes of bread crusts, herbal hops, roasted malts and a slightly yeasty finish. heavy-bodied with soft carbonation. Sampled @ Haand 2013. Practically clear golden body with a thin off-white head. Aroma of malt, fruit, perfume (Bourbon) and alcohol. Flavor is sweet and alcoholic, some acidity, wood and quite dominating Bourbon. Full body and alcoholic aftertaste. Very nice in smaller amounts, otherwise pretty heavy.

Soft gusher, big fizzy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, caramel malts, sugar, hay, oak, mild sweet bourbon, almond essence. Taste is sweet and harsh, mild sweet bourbon, almond essence, hay, oak, weeds, caramel. Medium bitterness, dry harsh mouthfeel. Meh!
Borefts 12. Hazy orange to copper colour, no head. Smells lots of wood, whiskey, sweet, some peat. Tastes sweet, bourbon, wood. Quite nice! Medium to full body, low fizzy carbo. altonbrownd (5897) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - NOV 2, 2009
Bottle at BBF. Dark brown body with nice malty nose. Taste of malts, caramel and dark fruits. Spicy. Quite enjoyed it. Alengrin (5884) - BELGIUM - SEP 6, 2014
Bourbon barrel-aged Melchior, very limited. Thick, creamy head over a deep copper beer with orange hue, hazy. Complex sweet and spicy bouquet, appetizing, white grapes, gooseberry, pear, vanilla, pepper, cloves, candi syrup and indeed bourbon, wood. Fruity, full taste, apricot, pear, grapes, caramelly and honeyish malt sweetness, becoming more complex in the finish with tannins, woody dryness, floral hops and agreeable, whisky-like alcohol warmth. The wood ageing clearly did this beer good, a very fine barley wine this is.
