Bottled. Aroma has sugar, some red wine, mustard. Cloudy, yellow coloured beeer with a thin head. The taste is a bit sweet, slightly sour, has fruitiness, some hint of wood, wine, caramel and hops. Bit weird but quite tasty! BoBoChamp (5755) - Gent, BELGIUM - APR 9, 2009
75cl, new exclusive brew Anno 2009, from De Hopduvel Gent, very complex brew, yet heavy, balanced, cloudy, good head, very good brew, but very expensive DonMagi (5593) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 12, 2009
Sample from a bottle at alvinne. Alround rating: Woody, white wine character is key, floral hop, peppery alcohol bitterness. Im not sure really whats going on here, but i couldnt really get into this. Alengrin (5422) - BELGIUM - SEP 6, 2014
The burgundy barrel-aged Melchior, with cream white, coarse, milky head and deep copper colour like the other Melchiors, hazy with large protein flakes. Strong fruity aroma of peach, apple sauce, brown sugar, cognac, mint, liquorice, cinnamon, oak, grapes, rosewater. Mellow sweet fruity taste, apple, grape, full caramelly and honeyish maltiness with complex spicy notes, woody finish with floral hops and warming, brandy-like alcohol, long and dry. Great, but somehow I found the bourbon aged version a bit better. thebeertourist (5189) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 8, 2009
Bottle from De Bierloods, Adegem. Pours quite clear, shiny orangey amber and has a healthy white head. Fantastic aroma: berries, marzipane, oranges, alcohol, port. Sweeter flavours, dried fruit, very noticeable alchol, orange zest. A bit sirupy texture. All in all, a great late night treat.

(75cl bottle) Courtesy of Jonas. Pours a huge frothy, quick dissipating head atop an orange head. Lots of sediment. Very sour with a honey overtone.

Bottle shared by Goldtwins at PPSG 2010. Pours a hazed light copper with a thinning white head. Aroma is mineral, earth, toast, oak, spices, herbs, grass, old wood and some old fruits. Flavor is almost like unripe mango, green, woody mineral astringency and a slight grapeskin tartness in the end with some orange and apricot fruity esters all around. jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - JUN 23, 2009

Not a bad beer if you consider it as just a beer. Baring in mind that it was oak aged and stuff then it’s pretty plain. Lots of sweetness, no complexity.
(Bottled, 0.75l, 11.5% ABV) Murky orange-brown with a very small head. The Bourgogne barrel is evident in the nose, with grainy-caramely maltiness, dried fruit, and some typical aged Belgian character. Somewhat similar to Stille Nacht. Flavor is even more bourgogney, with grainy-caramely maltiness strongly present, and even some surprisingly fresh, exotic-citrusy fruitiness. Alcohol well hidden. Medium to full body, low CO2, refreshing. A reasonably successful barrel ageing, resulting in a complex and freshly fruity flavor. tkrjukoff (4335) - SWEDEN - APR 2, 2011
