On tap at the 2011 Max’s Belgian Fest: Pours a clear deep golden amber with a spotty-lacing ring of white bubbles. Has a big complex sweet cognac and oak nose with light fruity toffee. Starts with pretty good fullness and mild carbonation with light grape and apple fruitiness before a thinner warming finish. Pretty unique and complex brew, but could be a little more drinkable. hopscotch (11170) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 13, 2011
Bottle… Cloudy peach-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. Odd bouquet - spicy, salty, herbal and earthy. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and prickly carbonation. Like the aroma, the flavor is odd, but enjoyable – herbal and earthy. Spicy mustard seed, anise, coriander, earthy hops, light acidity and a touch of salt. Finishes earthy and herbal. Strange brewery, this one. Lots of hits, misses and almosts. Always off-center. redlight (2318) - Orlando, Florida, USA - APR 30, 2011
750 ml bottle @ redlight redlight. Funky oaky aroma with sour mustard aromas. Pours a hazy orange with no head. Oaky upfront with hints of mustard and hints of brandy with some citrus and apple notes as well. Very smooth and sweet. Very interesting and different! shrubber85 (11506) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - APR 24, 2011
Bottle at First German Ratebeer gathering at Idar Oberstein. Lemon peel and Calvados aroma. Hazy golden yellow color with small head. Sweet and musty lemon and barley malt flavor. Nice beer. Bierkrug (2129) - - APR 23, 2011
Part of the first German beer tasting in Idar-Oberstein. Thanks to Steptin. Light orange color with no head. Aroma is pine, and sweet candy. The taste is very sour and some spice, Palate is terible. Not a good beer at all in my book. Why would someone want to drink this?

DBF Goes 20110320 (75 cl bottle): A dark yellow beer, slightly cloudy and hardly ni head (white). A nice aroma which is dominated by alcohol, calvados (apple, distilate), wood and vanille. A slightly sweet taste with a somewhat sharp alcohol, fruitness and some malt. madmitch76 (25101) - , Essex, ENGLAND - APR 16, 2011

ACBF. Hazy gold beer, no real head. No carbonation. Even malt. Nice fresh apple calvados carries through start, mid and finish. Semi dry palate. Good stuff. Much stronger Calvados prescense than last years batch.
@ACBF 2011. Strong notes of calvados throughout the sip. Moderate alcohol burn end game. Nice. Leighton (21755) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 19, 2011
Bottle at ACBF 2011. Unfortunately, I was served from a bottle that had been opened the day before, and it seemed like the beer was not in its best condition. Pours glowing gold with a few lonely bubbles. Juicy, sour aroma, slightly funky. Has an odd flavor, lightly tart, slightly buttery, lightly sweet. Full bodied with soft carbonation, hot in the throat. Buttery finish, alcohol to spare, light dough, certainly warming. Wasn’t overly impressed. alexsdad06 (10580) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - MAR 15, 2011
Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a hazy peach color with a small white ring of bubbles. The aroma is tangy, tart fruits, woody, white grapes, with some herbal notes. The flavor has a burst of tart fruits, herbal, woody before the alcohol heat takes over. Much of the finish was dominated by alcohol. Medium bodied. Interesting, but too hot.
