Thanks mom. Pours a slightly cloudy straw amber with one finger of off-white head. Nose is lightly acidic with a large brett presence, pineapple and fresh cut citrus. Flavor is really nice, very dry and citrusy. Zesty with fresh pineapple and heavy brett influence. Lightly tannic and cider, definitely an apple component to this. Uber interesting. Bottle. Light brown coloured beer with a reddish hint. Very light carbonation and a very small white head. Special, light sour fruity hinted aroma with a short malty touch. Full palate. Thin, off-white, sloppy head of varying sized bubbles. Minimal carbonation. Nice complex aroma. A slight bit of funkyness in there along with lots of vinuous white grape aromas, some herbs, a hint of bret and some soft grainy malts. Color is a slightly hazy dark copper. Flavor has a little zip to it from the funky tartness that accompanies the spicyness from the mustard seeds. The tartness keeps the mouth salivating and begging for more while at the same time drying out the palate. More white grape with only a minor alcohol presence. Some belgian yeast and a tad of straw round out the late palate portion. A pretty good brew that will not be a hit with everybody. grunx (367) - - DEC 12, 2011

Bottle - 750mL crowned. Cap shows "MELCHIOR CALV2 14 JUN 2016 Lot 9 JI". Label says 11% ABV. Pours rusty amber with a short smattering of tan bubbles on the surface. Aroma is green apple, grape skins, wet oak, white wine, dried fruit and funky yeast. Hints of sour fruit as well. Taste is big oak notes, faint vanilla, caramel, sour fruit notes, unripe berries, grape skins, faint apple, damp earth, funky yeast and faint caramel. Body is light-medium with very soft carbonation. Dry mouthfeel especially during the finish. Ends with more grape skins, white wine, green apple, wet oak, funky yeast, sour berries, candied fruit, light earthiness and soft caramel. Hazy cider colored with very little head. Aroma is like a cider fermented with brett. Sweet and spicy with that pleasant pineapple and barn. Bottle. Pours a hazy light brown with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel and sweet, overripe fruit. Flavor is similar with added notes of spice and wood. Finish is metallic with a strange spicy bitterness (mustard seeds?). Different but not great.

Bottled sample consumed at Avenue Pub. Gold in colour with moderate yet spritzy carbonation. Aromas are of sour citrus, oak, liquor (maybe white vermouth), and mustard. Draught. Mustard seeds? Really? Good or bad I didn’t seem to notice them at all. For me the aroma and flavor was reminiscent of sour cherries. I also did not notice the 11+ ABV too. Okay.
