Bottled. Orange colourd. Unclear. Small beige head. Sourness, light yeast, some fruits and calva in the aroma. Flavour is sour and yeasty as well. loads of alcohol notable and wood as well. Tense grape and grass. Medium bodied. Sourish and grapy end. Not really something for me this one.

Bottled 750ml (Alvinne shop, BB 01/2015)
Hazy copper-amber color, small mostly vanishing head. Aroma has lots of raisins, alcohol, cognac, riped apples. Medium-bodied. Alcoholic "bitterness", fruity with raisins and plums, hints of apples, lychee. Flavor is certainly similar to regular Melchior, but this is not so liquerish as it is and calvados barrel brings some extra sweetness. Heavy stuff with 11.5% ABV.

(Bottle, 0.75 l, at the 16th Kerstbierfestival) The beer piured yellowish brown and cloudy. Its head was small, sparse and white. Aroma had malts, vanilla and apples. Palate was full bodied, warming and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, vanilla, apples, sweetness, fruitiness, wood and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody and bitter. Quite weird combination of flavours that didnt work well enough.

RBESG 2010, bottle at Brasserie 4:20
Gushing bottle. Cloudy blond color. Light aroma of malt and wallnuts. Sweetish malt flavor, with light Calvados and nutty touch. The alcohol can be clearly perceived. Good but a bit boozy.

Clear, dark amber/honey, bordering on light mahogany color. What started as a big white head quickly collapsed to a thin layer of bubbles. Little bit of lacing left behind. Smells sour, earthy. Like a gueuze. Im guessing there is some brett in there. Little apple-y sweetness in there. Very much an alcohol presence. After that fades there is a very sweet brandy flavor, mixed with a peppery, cinnamony spiciness. An almost dry mouthfeel that quickly gives way to a sweet mouthfeel. Earthy. None of the sour aroma comes through in the taste, but it might be another gusher given some time.

Bottled sample consumed at Avenue Pub. Gold in colour with moderate yet spritzy carbonation. Aromas are of sour citrus, oak, liquor (maybe white vermouth), and mustard. Flavours are of more sour fruit, wood, white grapes, vanilla, and a bit of balsamic vinegar. Round mouthfeel and a bit boozy. Not bad.

In short: An unusual woody big amber ale
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed when probably around one year of age
The look: Cloudy amber body topped by a small off-white head
In long: Nose is strange, the base beer is unusual with a strange spiciness and a woody character that is like the smell of a woodshop. Taste is grape skin, a lot of wood, notes of white wine, smooth hard-to-name spiciness, Granny Smith apples, banana peels, a bit of booze. Woody dryness in the finish. Not a complex beer by any means but it was certainly not boring, actually it was kind of weird. It was also surprisingly drinkable for an 11.5% beer. Strangely drinkable, the beer is weird but also not very tasty/intense so I went through a 750ml quite easily even if this wasnt particularly exiting. Not bad but certainly not worth the hefty price tag3, but its alright Ill have plenty of money soon, I told my boss I deserve a raise, Ive been working here for over 3 years and I worked really hard yesterday.

Sampled at WtWBA Brooklyn 2012. Pours a hazy amber body with thin white lacing. Aroma is fruit, funk and oak. Mouthfeel is nice, with notes of sweet fruit, oak, earth, musk, toasted malts.
