Bottle at home.. HUGE thanks to Ian for this one ... foamed on opening so quite hazy amber ... bubbly white head... sweet yeasty light spice nose ... rich spirit ... little toffee ... big resiny apple ... yeast ... pine ... this is a big body boozy bomb ... but the balance is quite nice ... real richness ... nice to drink like a nip. fonefan (49386) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JAN 31, 2010

Light unclear with mamy small to medium size body particles, a medium orange color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, overriped orange - apple, moderate yesty, moderate to light heavy alcoholic, wooden notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic.
Bottled. A hazy dark golden beer with a thin lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, alcohol, and over ripe fruits, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. planky84 (3263) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 25, 2010

Bottle courtesy of Alan. Thanks! Pours clear dark golden color with white head. Aroma is interesting. I can’t put my finger on the gritty part. A twang and a hit of booze. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is a sharp, pretty pungent note of booze and other flavors I’m just not that familiar with. Interesting. dnstone (3418) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAY 28, 2011
Dry blonde with hints of orange-peel bitterness and light apple-alcohol calvados tones. Hazy orange in color with a slight white head. This was a pretty enjoyable beer! markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 6, 2011
750mL bottle from Leuken’s Oldsmar. Pours a hazy yellow with orange highlights and a swirl of white head. Nose is sweet malt, mustard, cognac, some barnyard, and some booze. It has distinct sour qualities to it that make me think it might have brett, but after exploring the beer a bit more, I believe it is more of the combination of the barrel with the mustard seed. Flavor is musty, malt, bretty quality, oak, cognac, and some tartness/ vinous quality. Calvados is nowhere near as pronounced as I anticipated for the stamp on the bottle. More cognac than calvados comes through. Light to medium-bodied and a strange take on this one. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 9, 2012
750mL bottle. Poured translucent, lighter orange with a white head that fizzled out really quickly.. kind of shiny. The aroma picked up more Calvados than anything else, with cognac and related dark fruit backing it up.. some oak and dry, peppery yeast in there as well.. this was nice, but it was almost all barrel. The flavor opened with tangy oak and sour/lightly-metallic boozage.. dark fruits, honey, and a bit of biscuity malt at the core.. lots more Calvados and peppery yeast on the long, dry, belly-warming finish.. just about an "8". Medium-plus bodied with low, but prickly carbonation on the palate.. the barrel stole the show, but it did provide some very interesting character. drpimento (3640) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 22, 2012
Not quite as good as expected. Poured at a good temperature; it was a gusher; with a small, cream-colored head that settled to a thin island and ring, no lace. Color would be a clear, but for the large amount of tiny particulates in suspension, amber. Aroma is yeast, malt, mustard, fruit. Flavor is more bitter then tang, then sweet. Although in the finish it’s sweet and tang that linger. Otherwise, also like nose. Body has some clashes between bitter and tang along with some heavy boozieness.
