Deep ruby brown hued, lightly hazy, artisanal Flemish sour ale. Expect soft toasty malt presence, a light sweetness, and a pronounced acidic tartness. A woody ale that’s remarkably tart! Yet still both gentle and bright. This mega-rare version is aged in French Monbazillac barrels, imparting a dry, woody, fruity, tart, strawberry like finish

Palme (4856) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 17, 2014
0.75l bottle shared with the Tasting Crew and our Kristiansandsfriends. Looks like pouring fatty oil on the glass. It’s deep burgundy red brownish in color, no head what so ever to be found. Smells not directly superb initially. It’s sharp and really vinegar infused, a ton of astringent wood, some cigar and dries leafs. It opens up after a little while and kinda grows on you after gaining time in the glass. Red wine vinegar and sour green apples. There’s no doubt that it’s a really complex one this. Lots of small nuances to be found. Really sharp acidic citrus sour! Lemon and wood. Thick and viscous in the mouth and it hasn’t got any bubbles. It could have needed at least a little fuzz. Red sour berries with a little wet grass. Lots of small subtle flavors. 16.06.2014

16.06.2014, 0,75l bottle @ BBGTC tasting:
No head, very oily density. Aroma is slightly sour-ish, sorrel, red berries, caramel malts, oak, toffee. Taste is acidic sour, sorrel, soda powder, oak, mild vinegar, citrus acids, grass, grain, unripe berries. Medium bitterness, nice dry acidic mouthfeel. Nice and interesting.

Bottle 750ml @ ClubGonzo
Pours clear dark brown with a few off-white bubbles. Aroma is sourwith notes of malt, berries, vinegar and dried fruits. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium to heavy sour with a long sour and berry finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is flat.

Bart (2936) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAR 24, 2013
Bottle @ Alvinne Proeflokaal. Darker brown coloured beer, light hazy no carbonation, no head and a very oily like texture. Slightly wooden short roasted oaky sweet sour hinted almost short smokey touched aroma. Medium to full creamy special oily texture. Finish is light tart, fruity acidic with a sour long dry ending. Very special and strange, but definitly nice.

OleR (4801) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAR 20, 2013
Sampled from bottle. Pours an almost still, mahogny brown body. A few short-lived beige bubbles on top. Vinous and light vinegary aroma. Some inviting notes of tart berries and tinned dark fruits. Amazing texture. Supersmooth, almost succulent. Fruity flavor reminiscent of berries, grapes, zesty citrus, and tinned dark fruits. Both tart and light vinegar sour. Faint caramel and vanilla. Medium body strengt. Lingering sour-tart fruit finish. A very special one.

Opaque black beer, no head. Smooth palate. Semi dry, low carbonation. Tangy sour beer. Sour red wine. Tangy cherry , blackcurrant and raspberry notes that you would associate with a heavy red wine. Smooth semi dry finish. All about the red wine barrel here!

ClubGonzo (5683) - Bergen, NORWAY - FEB 13, 2013
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a deep mahogany brown body with absolutely no trace of any sort of head retention. Actually, it looks more like some brown-stained red wine than anything else. Aroma is mild balsamic and oak tones, dark malts, red fruits, tart berries, hints of cherries and mellow raspberries far in the back. Taste is dry, oaky sour tones, vinegar, hints of dark fruits, raisins, wood and vinous grapes. Nice and smooth. Palate is viscous, near-oily and thick, completely devoid of carbonation. All in all a very pleasant and well-made sour, but the flatness and lack of "something extra" prevents what could have been a really high score.

Bottle shared @ Animal. Brown colour with minimal off-white head that quickly diminishes. Aroma is smoky, yeasty, roasty. Flavor is vinegar, slightly red fruits hints and wood. Acid and red wine final.

19/I/13 -75cl bottle @ RBBWG 2013 - BB: n/a (2013-63) Thanks to Sebletitje for sharing the bottle!

Clear red brown beer, no head. Aroma: very smelly, rotten fruits, infection all over, rotten leafs, very bad. MF: no carbon, light to medium body. Taste: vinegar sourness, rotten stuff, bit of sugar. Aftertaste: vinegar, earthy, sour, very bad. Damn, this is literally not drinkable... :-(
