Deep ruby brown hued, lightly hazy, artisanal Flemish sour ale. Expect soft toasty malt presence, a light sweetness, and a pronounced acidic tartness. A woody ale that’s remarkably tart! Yet still both gentle and bright. This mega-rare version is aged in French Monbazillac barrels, imparting a dry, woody, fruity, tart, strawberry like finish

Bottled. A murky brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of yeast, roasted malt, caramel, and fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of brettanomyces, malt, lemons, wood, and grapes, leading to a tart finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle, at HaandFestival 2012. It’s a murky, brown beer, without any head or carbonation. The aroma has berries, some vinegar, notes or red wine and cherry, and some dried fruits. The texture of this one is the craziest I’ve ever encountered, both oily and creamy, sort of like drinking half-whipped cream. Tart too, with flavors of caramel and dried fruits, and some sourness, vinegar hints and notes of lemon. Tart finish. The mouthfeel of this one was weird, interesting and superb, but a bit too freaked out to deserve a 5’er. Besides that, it’s a fine beer but nothing extraordinary. 120504

Bottle @ Fanø Slumber Party, 2012. Pours muddy brown with bubbles on top. Caramel, oak, tequila, berries, syrup. Quite strong and warm. A bit odd but ok tasty.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of thewolf. Pours an opaque dark brown with absolutely no head. Sour, rotten aroma, some baking yeast. Medium body, completely flat, dry and tart - well actually distinctly tart, again baking yeast all atop some rotten fruit. No bitterness. Well.... 280712

Bottle @ Fanø Slumber Party, 2012.
Bought @ Etre Gourmet.
Pours with a very fat, syrupy pour, practically no head. Aroma is tart, redwine, oak, light strawberry, soft vinegar. Medium to low carbonation, nice dry and very oily mouthfeel. Flavour has tartness yet still maintains some sweetness, caramel, nutty. Lots and lots of red grapes and very tart. Some fat strawberry as well. Very well-balanced IMO.
